Seattle Humane Teen Pet Food Drive

Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.
Anatole France

Hi I'm Max!  I'm 13 years old and I'm a member of the Humane Teen Club.  The HTC is a junior volunteer program for animal-loving teens in the Seattle area interested in animal welfare, helping on campus, exploring animal related careers, and developing public speaking and leadership skills.

Part of the HTC is a service project.  Our project is to individually collect 500lbs of dog or cat food donations for Seattle Humane.  This food goes to their Pet Food Bank which serves low income seniors in King County and also helps people who are disabled by AIDS or Cancer through their Pet Project.

The money I hope to raise will be used to purchase dog and cat food for the Humane Society.  Volunteers will then pack and deliver that food - over 16,000 pounds of pet food monthly to over 1,800 pets!

I know first hand how helpful that assistance can be.  My mom is a dog foster parent with Seattle Humane and we wouldn't be able to foster the dogs without the food they provide us.  Receiving the dog food helps us keep foster dogs while they recover from illness or surgery or just needing a break from the stress of the shelter while they wait to be adopted.  Here are some of the dogs we've been able to care for with the support of the Humane Society...

The food we get from the Humane Society helped us foster these dogs.  Imagine how helpful the food donations are for low income seniors or people living with disabilities and illness.  The monthly supply of food enables them to keep their pets while spending their limited resources on food and other living expenses for themselves.

I hope you will help me raise this money for the Humane Society.  I love helping my mom take care of our foster dogs.  I would love to help other people be able to not worry about feeding their dogs (or cats).

I want you to know that I'm not just asking for money on this go-fund me page but that I'm also getting out there in my community and collecting food.  So if you see a boy in a red Seattle Humane Teen Club t-shirt at Safeway holding a pet food drive it might be me!  I'm also holding a pet food drive at my school and at my church.  I hope that all my efforts help me meet my goal of collecting 500lbs of food.

I know there are lots of food drive go-fund me pages to choose from.  Thank you for taking a look at mine.
