Sean's Fight for Sight!

Hello, my name is Sean and I desperately need your help to keep me from going completely blind. In November of 2015, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with a form of inherited blindness known as Retinitis Pigmentosa. By the time I realized I was having vision problems, I had already lost the majority of my vision. Currently I have 16% function in my left eye and 18% function in my right eye. I live life looking through a peephole. This disease has taken away my ability to do many day to day tasks, the biggest being that I can no longer drive. Among many other issues, obviously my ability to earn a living has been effected. I spent nearly two decades working in emergency medical services and 911 dispatch, however that is no longer a feasible career due to my vision deficit. Facing full blindness within 3-5 years, I was told that there are no treatment options available.
Recently I became aware of a clinical trial that holds very promising potential to not only stop my disease progression, but to actually RESTORE my vision. The clincial trial, known as SCOTS II, utilizes bone marrow stem cells injected into the eyeball to restore the vision I have lost. Due to the disease being extremely rare, grant funding for clinical research is almost non-existent; therefore, participation requires the patient to cover a portion of the treatment/study. The cost of this particular study is $22,000 not including travel expenses. It will be conducted in multiple visits to Margate, Florida.
Like most people, I simply do not have the means to pay for this expense on my own, so I am turning to my friends, family and compassionate strangers to assist me in this last hope of not going fully blind. Every dollar will be used to secure my admission into the SCOTS II study. Truly, every single dollar counts and I thank you in advance for your support, prayers and well wishes.
