On Dec 22nd, 2017, doctors found a tumour on the brain of my good friend Scott, who some of you may know as Scott Sorry from The Wildhearts, Sorry & The Sinatras, Amen and his recent solo work. The doctors have described it as a 2-inch cystic tumour on the left side of his brain, and it's currently affecting his speech and motor functions. Right now he's in for observation and they expect to perform surgery on him on Dec 26th. We're all pulling for Scott and if anyone can get through this thing it's him, but right now we have to just wait and see.

In recent years, Scott scaled back his involvement in music to focus more on his family life. Scott and his wife Hanni recently bought a house in which they're raising their 3 wonderful kids and Scott has turned down a number of touring opportunities to focus on his job and family.

Alongside the obvious emotional toll of a diagnosis like this, it'll mean mounting medical bills and an as-yet-unknown amount of time off work for Scott. So with his family's permission, I'm setting up this fund to help give some relief to a guy who has brought so much joy to others through his music, his friendship and his selfless love for his family. Anything that you can give, large or small, will go a long way towards a good cause for one of the best guys that I know.

Thanks for reading, I'll update as frequently as possible when there's any news.

**EDIT** I was just informed that the CT scan to diagnose him cost $5000 on it's own. So I've increased the target - apparently I have a lot to learn about how expensive hospital visits can be in the US. Thank you to everyone who has donated already. x

An update from Scott: Hey ya'll! It's been a while since I've been on here properly so I figured it was time to get on and talk to you a bit. As you all know I spent some time over the holidays in the hospital with a brain tumor. They found it Dec 22 and took it out Dec 26. It took some time to get my official diagnosis because they had to send samples off to laboratories. We got the diagnosis back and it's not great. They call it Glioblastoma. It's an incredibly tough to treat cancer. (you have no idea how good it feels to get that off my chest) . It's one of those that doesn't have many success stories. It's scary shit and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. But I've been scared before and I'm still here. I have this beautiful family, these amazing friends, and an incredible life that I'm going to fight my ass off for. Yeah, the news sucks, but it won't break me. I'm not going to cry about it. I'm not going to "poor me" about it. I'm going to Love harder, appreciate more, and get rid of any negativity left in me. I didn't make it this far to lay down and cry so I don't want anyone else to do that either. No pity parties. I'm taking this S.O.B. on full force. As I said, there are not many success stories, but I'm determined to be one. I've got a hell of a fight ahead but I'll be standing to tell you about it when it's done. I sincerely want to thank you all for the support you have shown my family and I. You have no idea what it has meant to us. From the bottom of my heart I love and appreciate you. Now it's time I get back to work. Got floors to clean and diapers to change. Much Love Ya'll. Onwards and Upwards x

Finally, some business to take care of here so that we can get the money to Scott and his family. Since I started this GoFundMe for Scott I have been asked to publicly clarify a few things so that they'll release the money to me to pass along the family. This is just a simple formality that GoFundMe has asked so that we can move things forward. many of you know, Scott and I have been bandmates on-and-off for years, housemates for a while, and friends going back about 15 years. I started this GoFundMe from my house in Canada, which means that I'll have to withdraw the funds to my Canadian bank account to then transfer to the family. Once the guys have their money I'll make sure we post another update here so that you all know that this is on the up-and-up so to speak. And that's it!
Thanks again for all of your support and generosity. I'll keep the updates coming!

Scott went in for surgery yesterday. He was under the knife for just over an hour and they managed to remove the tumour. Unfortunately it’s malignant, meaning there’s cancer there.
But everyone is staying positive and hoping that it’ll be easily treatable and Scott will be back on his feet kicking ass before too long!

Thank you all again for your generosity and support through all of this. It really has made a huge difference to Scott and Hanni and all of us who love them. You guys rule!

Today we got some good news and some bad news: On the positive side of things, the MRI came back clear which means that there's no other cancer in Scott's body that would be causing the tumour. So he gets to go home for Christmas with his family before his surgery on Tuesday. The bad news is that the surgery and ongoing medical care is going to cost well over $100,000.
Thanks to all of your generosity we've made a pretty good dent in that number but we really need to keep going. We're working on a few other fundraising options that we'll share in the coming days but for now your sharing and donations are continuing to be a huge help.
It's heartwarming to see the music community - artists and fans alike - coming together to help one of our own at a time like this. Thank you all! x
