Scott Franks Medical Fund

Scott Franks has been a servant to all that he has come in contact with. Capt. Franks has served the City of Raleigh for 16 years and he did so with pride, honor, and selflessness. Scott is a quiet and reserved person that has sought out to assist in any way possible. This quiet servant has impacted many lives through his many acts of service and kindness. Scott has served a variety of communities including Cary, Garner, and Swift Creek Fire Departments as a fire fighter. Scott is a fighter in many dimensions and he is still fighting.  He has worked tirelessly to be an outstanding person for 46 years and over 25 years as a fire fighter. Through his fight he has been challenged with an illness that caused him to retire well before he expected to. Scott’s quality of life has change dramatically. His mobility has decreased, living arrangements will have to be adjusted, and his mode of transportation will have to be altered. As we go through our daily process we have no clue of what the next second will bring us.

His retirement was unexpected; Scott has been plagued with a degenerative bone issue that causes his disk to blow out. In the last few years Scott has had to have 4 surgeries on his back.  Scott has a challenge of walking, his mobility to get in an out of a vehicle takes extra time, there are only a few vehicles that he can get into and the possibility of being in a wheel chair is imminent. These surgeries have mounted up unexpected medical expenses and a huge change in his life. As a 46 year old servant that has been a part of many emergency medical responses, structure fires, and rescues; Scott is now in the need to be served through financial assistance and prayers. Along with retirement on disability there are several hoops and hurdles that have to be ventured. Through this process there comes an emotional and psychological impact along with family challenges. Having a state of financial assistance could reduce some of the unexpected stress.

Scott is a unique person with a huge impact through his characteristics and behaviors. It has been shown through his professional and personal life.  It is very radiant in the way he cares and loves his family. Being a husband and a father of 2 children, Scott has put forth maximum effort to be the man of his household and deal with the illness that has challenged him. Going through this process he has not given up on faith, his faith has increased immensely.

As a co-worker and friend, this is a group effort to reach out on behalf of Scott and his family to raise funds to assist with the mounting expenses (copayments, medication, home expenses, home alterations, mode of transportation). Soliciting funds will assist this caring, responsible, and selfless servant in his time of need. As Scott has responded to many calls, please join us in answering the silent call that he has transmitted. In advance, the Franks' family grateful appreciate your contribution and prayers as they progress through this time in their lives.
