Scott's Fight Against Cancer

Hello Friends & Family,

In mid December of 2018, Scott was diagnosed with Stage 2c Testicular Cancer.  By the time doctors had made the discovery, it had already spread to his abdomen, where a tumor six by fourteen centimeters had formed.  Due to the size and location of the tumor, blood clots had thickened in his lungs.  The doctors deemed the tumor inoperable and recommended Scott to start chemotherapy immediately.  Merry Christmas.

On December 28th, Scott was admitted to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon to start his chemo treatments.  It was on this day that he was informed that the treatment would make him sterile and a visit to a fertility clinic should be scheduled.  With an brochure on chemo side effects, a PICC line diagram, and a box of Tinzaparin syringes, Scott began his fight.

Four cycles of chemotherapy was recommended by the Oncologist.  A cycle consists of five consecutive days, followed by treatments on day eight and fifteen.  Then the process starts over.

How did he get here, who knows.  Scott began his rabbit hole search on reasons he might have been dealt this card.  Friends who have battled this disease suggested a Naturopath.  We received a ton of information regarding diet and life style changes Scott would have to make to get better.  Concerns from exposure to dangerous chemicals and other unsafe work environments encountered while painting got our attention.

Scott has been a painter for thirteen years and is damn good at what he does.  Being handy in most trades, he bought a fixer-upper house this summer.  The busy job during the day and house project at night spread him thin.  The history of exposure to chemicals had finally caught up with him.

Although skilled with a paint brush, Scott can also play a mean guitar!  Thoughts of teaching guitar lessons and opening a music shop are giving him some hopeful motivation at this time.

We are asking for your help and support during Scott’s fight and recovery.  Your kind donations will be used to help with medical bills and other expenses incurred.  One of our setbacks has been the prescribed Tinzaparin for blood clots.  We’ve applied for exceptional drug programs and other disability programs, but have currently been paying out of pocket waiting for approval.  Scott will be sidelined for most of the year from the chemotherapy and the slow process of dissolving the blood clots.  He won’t be working and his new house will be accumulating expenses.   Any bit of help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
