At the Schools Counselling Partnership we aim to offer therapeutic support to the most vulnerable children, parents and staff across schools our 26 schools in London.
Children and young people, who unless they are suicidal, have no chance for any therapeutic support.
Focussing on early therapeutic interventions with a view to preventing self-harm and suicidal thoughts. We teach resillience, educate parents and teaching staff about mental health, offer pathways to support and promote the importance of self-care. Due to the huge austerity cuts schools are struggling to pay for basic equipment and are having to make choices about paying staff to teach children or a service that looks after the mental health of their children. Really harsh choices. CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) is at capacity with huge waiting lists and other mental health providers are shutting down. While the need to support children and young people is growing at an alarming rate the provision available is decreasing at an equally alarming rate.
