School gaming computer project

Hi! I’m Drem, a unique name, I know! I’m a student attending S.A.I.L. (School for Autistically Impaired Learners), here’s the website telling you more about us,S.A.I.L . I am trying to raise money to build three computers for the school.

Before I tell you about the computers, here is some stuff about me and what it’s like with my autism in my old public school.

My mom and dad helped me lots when I was little, but when I was in public school, my autism started to show more and more every year. From my mom just having a hard time getting me to the building for class, to getting in trouble with the school people for not attending classes very much. I’d estimate that in 7th grade, I maybe showed up once or twice a week. But, when I was there, 90% of the time I was trying to find a way out to get home. I never liked it because all the teachers, principal, vice-principal and the counselor all thought that I just didn't want to work, that I was just lazy. No matter how many times we told them "I'm not lazy, I have high anxiety, here's a doctor's note saying I do", they never listened. 7th grade was the straw that broke the camel's back when my teacher said "I’m not here to help you with autism I'm here to teach you and you will sit here until you do some work.” Needless to say I didn't go for to school for 3 weeks and I felt that I could not do good enough.

Then we found SAIL and in 3 years time I've been able to go to school everyday and rarely need help controlling my anger, plus I am in advance classes getting A’s and B’s.

So, "how could building computers possibly tie-into S.A.I.L." you may ask? Well, myself and two other are pursuing careers as computer programmers or in computer repairs. We need these computers so that we have hands-on experience, and a system powerful enough to run applications like Unity, Unreal 4, Sketchup and other game-making tools. This computer is going to be made completely from scratch, including picking out the hardware itself. We have a teacher showing us not only how to build them from parts, but also help us learn computer programming. Please note, I’m 14 and the two other students are 12. After the computers are built, any remaining funds will go back to S.A.I.L. for books, pencils and sensory equipment to help the children  there with autism.

We need the funds by
The end of the school year.

This project means so much to me! Ever since I was little, I remember my older brother getting a computer and watching the games he played. I played them myself, and always wanted to create these worlds for others. My little mind raced with ideas, but for the longest time it went nowhere. With S.A.I.L.s help, I have calmed down and do great in school!

Dr. Boss is the boss of S.A.I.L. (yes, that's her real last name), and heard about my dreams. She got me a private tutor, and this also caught the eye of my 2 best friends who also want to learn. For a while this project was just a dream, something that would never happen. But now, my tutor and Dr. Boss thought about this, making a gofundme to hopefully make this happen.

This would help me accomplish my dream of making fantastic worlds full of adventure plus learn about building computers.

I would be so greatful to anyone who could donate money. Not only does it help me and my friends accomplish our education, but it also would help the other children of S.A.I.L. so they could have better equipment to help them with their autism.

Even if it's only a $10 donation, all of the children of SAIL would be happy and my friends and I would be the most grateful.

Thank you!
