Help our Scholarship Program for 30 girls in Granada, Nicaragua.

UPNicaragua is trying to raise funds to help us guarantee scholarship and education programs for 30 Nicaraguan  girls  with a variety of fragile home situations.

Our program has been operating since 2015, sustainably generating its own funds through the design and sales of handcrafted goods.

Since 2015, we have been generating jobs for artisans and teachers and we have been benefiting girls with long  term education programs to empower them and protect them from abuse and exploitation.

An acute political, human rights and economic crises broke out in Nicaragua on April 18th, leaving our program still operating but at high risk as the tourism industry in which we operate has abruptly fallen.   Though the future is uncertain for everyone in Nicaragua, we have hope that things will soon improve and the well deserved peaceful times will open to our nation.

We want to guarantee that even in the midst of this crisis, girls can continue learning and preparing for a better future.  For themselves, their families and Nicaragua.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela

Our Education Programs and Scholarships   include:

- Private School Scholarship Program (PSP) which helps vulnerable families pay for: tuition, school books, school supplies and uniforms.

- Supplementary Education, Mentorship & Life Skills Program (SEP) which provides professional tutoring to strengthen their math, grammar, computer, science and reading comprehension skills.  We include soft skills, mentorship and creative expression as part of our year-long program.

- English as a Second Language Scholarship Program (ESL) which provides the  opportunity to learn English at the best academy in our city. Certified, native teachers and a tailored program speed up the learning process and allow UPN girls to be exposed to other cultures and be better prepared for college and employment opportunities in the future.

- Web Development & Coding Program (TECH), going beyond basic education.  We believe that basic education is a must, yet not enough to secure a safe future for today's children.

This is a challenging 9-month program that allows motivated girls to explore introduction to the following areas: basic computer science concepts, HTML & CSS, Javascript and exposure to robotics and digital fabrication.

Dear friends,

We want to thank you again for you invaluable support and generosity to the UPNicaragua community. It's hard to do justice with words to the magnitude of your impact during these tough times.

Being able to keep our educational community actively helping girls and their families throughout the crises makes a massive difference for their continued development and emotional stability. During these times of turmoil, we would not be able to do it without your support.

I'm sharing a few pictures from this morning. Thank you for believing in this mission and for intentionally pushing it forward with us.

The sun will rise again!
