Our story/Nuestra historia
Hello, I’m Dr. Josh Pritchard,

Earlier this month in Orlando, parents of about 100 students with autism found themselves without a school.  When we saw this happen, we couldn’t even imagine what parents were going through.  Here they are with no place for their children and they have to figure out how they will be able to go to work yet find care for their children.

We felt a calling to fulfill our mission – what if we could open a branch of Lodestone at the same location?  We could offer a familiar setting, stability and comfort to all of the children who find small changes in routine to be difficult, much less something drastic like this!  As soon as possible, we secured the building to keep it as similar as possible while offering the education they deserve.  We quickly held an open house, and after meeting with a number of parents realized that much of their scholarship funding they would use for tuition was depleted and/or unavailable until Fall.  We don’t want finances to be a barrier for access for these children.  We have also had a lot of community members ask us what they can do to help? 

We thought – what about a GoFundMe campaign?  We’ve never done anything like this before – but even small donations can add up.  This might allow us to meet our goal of turning no-one away from our school due to funding.  Given the circumstances that led to the closing of the prior school, we want to be fully transparent about funding.  Additionally, we at Lodestone Academy have pledged to match the donations dollar for dollar until we reach our goal to allow these students to return to school and help get them back into their routine.

Any amount beyond the goal will be used for any new students who want to access high quality ABA based education that don’t have funding, and beyond that, we will use it to develop transportation contracts to overcome a final barrier of access to a high quality education that each of these students deserve.
