Scammed, We Need Help

Our family has been looking for a new house, we are desperate to find one. We did, or at least we thought we did. I was scammed by a man calling himself "Courtesy Grips" who claimed to be the landlord and asked for a down-payment and two months rent. Later, we found an ad for the same house, being sold by a different person.  It turned out he hacked into the code of the owner's home. He had been able to give us the code to get into the house. We figured out that we were being scammed and filed a police report. We are desperate to get back the money we lost. Our family is a special needs family, I am a wheelchair bound mother, my son is five and developmentally delayed and my daughter is thirteen with serious mental health problems. Our family will soon be kicked out of our house, we cannot afford to lose all that we did.
