Say NO to the Mid-Broadway project

The Mid-Broadway project is marching forward unless the citizens of Newburgh fight to stop it. Because of the appalling deal made by a previous council, the current City Council is unfortunately extremely limited in their ability to renegotiate the terms of this development. It is up to us - the taxpayers, business owners, renters, home owners, parents and concerned citizens who will bear the brunt of the costs and issues this development creates to dig in and do what’s right for the long term future of this city. And we have to act now.
We cannot allow our taxes to be raised in order to pay for the profits of this development while Mill Street Partners walks away with millions. We can’t allow an enormous, cheaply-clad building surrounded by a sea of parking to be plopped in the middle of our historic downtown. We cannot accept a project that doesn’t properly deal with runoff to the beautiful Hudson river. We must demand better.
Citizens are organizing a lawsuit to halt this development and we need your help with legal fees. The developer has deep pockets but if the residents of Newburgh come together, we can beat them. This is an investment in Newburgh. Consider it a down payment on smarter development - one that contributes its fair share, gives back to the community, enriches the culture of downtown, encourages locally owned businesses and fits into the historic fabric of our city. That is what Newburgh deserves. We must act now to get it.
