Ellie has been back and forth to the Vet for two months for intestinal issues. Vet treated her with an antibiotic and suggested to change diet to whatever she would eat. She would eat some but not enough. The first vet I took her too never examined her or took her temperature.
After the antibiotic, the first vet suggested I get an ultrasound for $325.00. I called around and found a Diagnostic Clinic with in house equipment and the ultrasound was $82.00. I found a great place
with all the equipment to test and treat Ellie.
We kept a watch on her weight and litter box. Things would seem to improve and then go downhill again. Ellie had another appointment on Thursday Feb. 11 because her appetite was getting worse.
Ellie was running 104 fever (Vet said she was probably nervous). They did an ultra sound, full blood profile, fecal test, Giardia test, full physical and nothing was found.
It was suggested again that it might an allergy to food, irritable bowel syndrome, they didn’t know. The Vet mentioned pancreatitis but because she wasn’t throwing up and all else looked fine, it wasn’t likely.
I took her home and the next morning Friday 2-12 & 2-13 she throw up once each of those mornings. I thought it was from stress from all the tests from Thursday.
I took her back on Monday because she wasn’t eating and I knew she wasn’t feeling good. The vet tested for pancreatitis and it was positive. The vet said I needed to start aggressive treatment in the hospital and the prognosis is good if you can start treatment. That cost was $1131.00 I did not have. They worked with me to treat her at home the best I could. But Tuesday morning she wasn’t even slightly improved. I made the decision to take her in and put her in the hospital.
