Hello everyone and thanks for coming to a very important place. Anyone reading this who knows Ken Riches knows what a very rare and incredible guy he is, and those that don’t know him should ask those that do and we’ll tell ya!
Ken is a dedicated husband, father, and friend. He has helped all of us become better at one point or another. Now Ken needs us to help him get better.
Recently Ken was diagnosed with Lymphoma. On June 15th this year Ken and Beth were on their once a year vacation in Florida when he was surprised by the symptoms. Those symptoms hit him full force. Ken collapsed, was hospitalized for 25 days while he was stabilized, diagnosed, and treated with the first round of potent chemotherapy.
After many tough delays in being discharged from the hospital he had to be taken to in Gainesville, I am happy to report that Ken and Beth have been home since July 13, and Ken is undergoing his remaining five rounds of chemotherapy, and is doing well.
We are raising funds for 2 primary reasons.
1. His medical team expects Ken will be out of work for 3-4 months, and having recently started his own business, it could not have happened at a worse time. The last thing we want is Ken and Beth worrying about the financial toll this will have on them. We want Ken to focus on kicking the big “C’s” ass, restoring himself to full health, and getting back into the groove of being such a selfless guy to all of us.
2. While Ken has health insurance, there is a 7K out of pocket deductible and Florida treatment was considered out of network, and will not be fully covered. The expenses associated with that month in crisis in Florida were extensive and unavoidable. Beyond that, there will be charges for medicine and treatment that is not covered by insurance, constant co-pays for regular office visits and procedures, and increased transportation and home support costs.
