Odette, Atlantic City Ballet’s White Swan has been KIDNAPPED!
The evil sorcerer, Rufus von Rothbart, has abducted our Odette, star swan from Swan Lake. She was taken during a press conference introducing AC Ballet's 35th season.
In a ransom note left by von Rothbard he states "I, Rufus von Rothbart, the equally dastardly cousin of the sorcerer you've seen this evening, have grown weary of the treatment these delicate, make-believe characters receive. Spells are cast upon them, arrows are shot in their general direction...just overall nasty, not nice behavior. So, in order to raise awareness of this malfeasance, I have taken swift action and SNATCHED THE SWAN!"
Rothbart continues, "Fear not, for no harm shall befoul the fowl, indeed she will be treated as if she were once a princess, indulged with the epicurean delights and merry adventures offered on this fair island by the sea.
"To Save the Swan from this ruthless display of tenderness" he says, "my ransom must be met! Make your deposit to Atlantic City Ballet's GoFundMe account, and when I receive $100,000 pfennigs (or dollars, depending on the conversion rate), the Swan shall be released into her natural, imaginary habitat."
Officials from AC Ballet said they have several leads in this caper. Von Rothbart and the Swan have been spotted throughout Atlantic City at various attractions and restaurants, including the beach and the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Von Rothbart is a known sorcerer and will cast spells at the slighest affront. If seen, do not try to apprehend, lest he turn you into a tiny mouse or something. AC police ask that you simply photograph the couple from a polite distance and post that picture on Facebook, twitter and all other forms of social media with hashtag #SaveTheSwan...and of course make a generous contribution to the Save the Swan ransom acount.

This fun fundraising campaign kicked off on May21st following ACB's production of Swan Lake. There was a real (fake) kidnapping and the couple has been spotted all over Atlantic City. 100% of the contributions go directly the ballet company. Check out our website for more information.
