Just want to extend our warmest thanks to you for your support of The Penguin! The last few days have been a whirlwind of love, generosity, and happy faces at The Penguin Café!
WE LOVE YOU!
Via the go fund me campaign and the generous donations of Penguin patrons, we have been able to meet our goal and our beloved Penguin will keep its doors open!
We can only hope and pray in the future the property owners will reasonably negotiate with Sabrina and Michael when the lease expires several years from now. At least this predicament has created a dialog within the community and I hope we will continue this dialog so that we can find ways to help preserve our local treasures for generations to come
In the meantime, if you love The Penguin, please continue to support the restaurant by coming in every once in a while to enjoy a home-cooked meal prepared with love and the traditional Penguin spirit that has resided within our community for 76 fantastic years!

Greetings my fellow Laguna locals!
How many of you love the Penguin Café? It’s been tight times and many of you know rental values are climbing in Laguna and the mom & pop establishments are being priced out of town or closing altogether. Penguin café has been a Laguna icon since 1942. It is one of the last pieces of our beloved history. This past year the property owners (the Merritt family) have increased Penguin’s rent by 40%. The Penguin has been able to keep up with this rent increase, however, due to the slower winter season and recent required upgrades to the resturant, The Penguin needs your help. If we can’t raise at least $5000 in the next few days our beloved penguin will be shut down. Let’s work together as the Laguna family we are and take care of our own! The penguin has been owned by Sabrina and Michael’s family for over 50 years, let’s keep this tradition alive and well in Laguna!!! Looking forward to seeing you all at The Penguin!
