Urgent Update: Denny Modzel Jr is in Altoona Hospital having surgery for a ruptured bowel this week. He will be unable to work for at least 2 months. This leaves the family with NO income at all. Denny Sr. is recuperating from hernia surgery last week. They are in need of much help. Please help in any way you can. As far as physical help on the farm, please contact Matt Modzel who is currently the only one working the farm. Thank you!
Local folks can help by supplying cat & chicken food, as well as any farm help they can manage.
We are hoping to raise some funds to help some local farmers, the Modzels, who happen to be our friends and neighbors. Because of a combination of medical bills, loss of crops and federal regulation changes, they are facing the possible loss of the farm. The farm, in Winburne, PA, is not only their livelihood, but their home. They would never ask for help, and work hard at making ends meet, but are up against impossible odds and are in immediate need of our help.
