Following a prolonged battle with hypertension, Solomon Akinlaja  a.k.a Ayo, was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney failure in 2016.

Despite medication to correct the kidney functions, and to bring his blood pressure back within normal range, it took a turn for the worst in December 2017 when it progressed to stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).  Since then he has been fighting to live.

Since his kidneys reached stage 5 CKD, he has been on haemodialysis, undergoing 3 sessions a week. This has been a gruesome experience for Ayo because of the trauma involved in going through dialysis on a weekly basis and not being able to experience any reasonable quality of life. Prior to the discovery of the kidney failure, Ayo lived an active life running a stage lighting company and car hire service, was involved in various charity organisations and activities and was also an active member of his local church. It has also impacted on his relationships with others and put financial and other pressures on him and his family.

He is now at End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) with a renal clearance index of 2. A renal clearance index for a healthy adult of his age will be 100. He has been advised that without an URGENT kidney transplant his outlook is quite bleak. Therefore he needs an operation as soon as possible. The only thing preventing this operation is the cost which is too onerous for Ayo alone to bear. The dialysis treatments will need to continue 3 times a week until Ayo is able to get the surgery needed. The dialysis is a temporary and very expensive band-aid that does not solve the problem.

With a kidney transplant, Solomon can get off weekly dialysis, he can get his body functions improved, which will then allow him to return to leading an adult life where he can be engaged with all the activities that he was involved in, and enjoys to do and continue to make a difference in society.

We are therefore soliciting your help and support!

We are appealing to everyone to help us raise this fund to cover the cost of his treatment . No amount is too big and no amount is too small towards reaching this goal.

For our friends in Nigeria who are finding it difficult to donate through the gofundme platform, we have opened an account with Stanbic IBTC specifically for the gofundme campaign, please see details below:

We also appeal to corporate organisations, charities, airline companies, hospitals, hotels and care givers who are able to offer support in kind to please assist. The family can be contacted via this campaign.

We will continue to post regular updates on Solomon's progress, so please keep following this page to see how things are progressing with him.

Different groups from Solomon's life are raising funds in different parts of the world; old school mates, friends, church members, family, and we believe you can help us too.
