John's Financial Rescue Campaign

I've created this fundraising campaign unbeknownst to my friend who we will call "John".  John just learned that his common-law partner is an alcoholic and chronic pathological gambler who conned him and their families out of nearly $250,000.  He is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces who, two weeks ago, was called back from an overseas deployment he was five months into because she threatened to end her life and they have a four year old who was alone in her care.  Since being home he has learned that, among other things, she borrowed and stole over $120,000 from both of their families.  All accounts are in overdraft, his credit is maxed and she has amassed over $100,000 in consumer debt in his name alone, partially thanks to the Power of Attorney he assigned her prior to deploying.  All RRSPs and RESPs are emptied, the mortgage payments have bounced, there are disconnection notices for insurance and utilities, and thousands are owed on land taxes and day care.  As a bookkeeper, she managed to keep him mostly in the dark with half-truths and complicated financial schemes.  She has admitted to secretly gambling for years and he is just beginning to uncover the depth and scope of the financial deceit.  His Forces family has had to help with things like groceries and winter boots for the kid, much to his misplaced shame.  Any money raised will go straight towards helping John rebuild life for him and his child and will pay off as many outstanding debts and desperately needed house repairs including:
Roof repair = approx. $10,000
Land taxes = $4283 (not paid since 2015)
Daycare = $4303 (not paid since April)
Vehicle repair = $1000-$3000 (his spouse said she would take care of the vehicle but left it sit and squirrels nested in it)

Helping John and his child mean the world to our friends and family and we will all be eternally grateful for any help received to try to right this terrible wrong.
