I tried my best to try and avoid asking for money in this matter. But this time around I honestly don't think I can. As anyone who knows me knows my rats are my babies. But one of my babies isn't doing so well. This fund is to gather money for my rat Pasha to remove a tumor.
Last month I was finally able to get his first tumor removed with the help of some friends and my Dad (for my birthday present). The vet bills from removing that tumor (that was roughly the size of a golf ball) and dealing with a later infection, came out to be roughly $650. I am a self employed college student who makes very little money. So just that much, even with help was extremely difficult to manage.
Currently I have about $60 to my name, the vets estimate for removing Pashas new tumor is around $370. They refuse to let me pay in installments, I have to pay up front to get him his surgery. At this point his tumor is small, a little bit larger than a pea. But they grow so fast, and the larger it becomes the more the removal cost will be. From the time I noticed his first one to the time I could get it cut off a month later it had already grown to golf ball size.
Pasha has only been off his medicine for about two weeks and he is already dealing with a new tumor. I know this is a lot of money to invest in such a small animal. But he means so much to me, I have had him since he was a tiny baby and I don't want to give up on him. There is a chance he will grow more tumors in the future. This isn't about curing him. This is about prolonging his life. He is only two, with how long my boys usually live he should have a good two more years left in him at the very least. If he could just live a little bit longer, I want him to be able to do that.
This could be the second of many tumors, or this could be his last. There is no way to know but it would mean the world to me if Pasha could be healthy again. He's a fighter, he just needs a chance.
