This Eastside animal shelter is on the verge of closing its doors and needs our help!

You may have seen the story on the local news about the little shelter that could.

Founded by pound volunteers, PAWS - Pound Animals Worth Saving - has been rescuing Valley animals. Since 2012, they've saved more than 7000 pets from euthanasia and helped them find loving, fur-ever homes.

The shelter runs on the thinnest of margins and relies heavily on volunteers. Unfortunately, donations and adoption fees have not been enough to cover the expenses involved in maintaining the shelter.

Funds will be used to cover operating expenses and ensure the survival of the shelter.

My daughters and I volunteer for the shelter, and I've seen how hard everyone there works and how passionate they are about saving animals. We've fostered multiple dogs and have adopted others, so I've seen the entire process first hand. Helping this organization has been hugely gratifying, and I want to see them not only survive, but succeed and flourish, as well. I am volunteering with them now to help them redo their website and launch a social media campaign.

Funds are needed urgently and will be sent directly to the shelter.

If you help, you will not only be saving the shelter but the thousands of abandoned pets who might never receive a second chance at life without their help.

Updates will be posted as they become available. Please share this campaign to help spread the message.

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated for everything from fundraising to cleaning cages to cuddling cuties. Visit the shelter's new website for more information.

They are in the middle of rebranding, so you may see "P.A.W.S. Fur the Cause - Pound Animals Worth Saving", and "Desert Tails Shelter" used interchangeably during the transition. Numerous television appearances are scheduled that should help alleviate any concerns regarding this matter, but please let us know if you have any questions.

The video below is a student film project that was shot at the facility, so you can see what the shelter looks like and get an idea of what it means to connect with a new, four-legged best friend.

Huge thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this campaign. As Adama posted, you guys are keeping this shelter open! They aren't quite out of the woods, yet (the amount I posted is what they do need to survive), but they are on their way. So thank you!

Also, just in from Winslow, they had to take in this lovely mama and her two adorable puppies. She's a good mama. All three will be needing homes in the coming weeks, as well as spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping, all of which will cost about $350 for each puppy and $400 for Mama Jane. That's not even including food or care. (When we say every little bit helps, it really does!)

Please consider sharing this campaign to help us find sponsorship for Mama Jane and her pups. We'll be posting updates about them on the website ( http://deserttailsshelter.org) as we have them; there is a short video of her nursing there, as well. <3

The Wine and Cheese Mixer tonight was a success! Lots of people came, and we received $1026 in donations, which we've disclosed as offline donations.

We'll post pictures of the event soon, but I just wanted to add this super quick update to let you know that it went well! :)

Huge thanks to everyone for all of your help so far! It's very inspiring and gives everyone hope that we can make this happen. <3

Hi everyone! Just a quick update. First, I want to thank everyone who has donated and/or shared the campaign. I can't tell you how much it means to everyone involved. Your kindness is so inspiring and makes me feel better about the world, to be honest.

Second, there is an adoption event today (Saturday) from 11a-3p, so please stop by if you're looking for a new furry friend!

The response to this campaign has exceeded my expectations. I do know it's also important to keep the momentum going, too, so if anyone has any media contacts or suggestions that you could put us in contact with, we'd really appreciate it. Or if you could please kindly share our fundraising events (I've added social media profiles and events to the website), that would really help us out, too.

We also have a junior volunteer program coming up. From June 5 - July 28 (we're staying positive), kids ages 9-13 are invited to volunteer during our open hours. It's absolutely free to attend, might give parents a little break , and should be both fun and engaging. Participants will receive a certificate and will help with activities like making signs and dog treats. Please RSVP on the website at deserttailsshelter.org if you have any children in your life who would like to attend.

I will be posting another update soon with information about what is actually involved in running the shelter and how much things to cost to give you an idea of the impact of your donation. Truly, every little bit counts. We have also added information about volunteering and goods donations to the website, as well. I know some people would rather donate food and cleaning supplies, etc. Please know those are also very much appreciated!

Lastly, we did take a bunch of pictures of our four-legged residents, and we'll try to post a gallery to the website as soon as we can. :)

Thanks again for all of your support. It really means a lot, and the emotional aspect of that is important. Knowing there are so many kind people out there keeps our spirits up high, and I think it's safe to say that everyone is more determined than ever to keep things going. Thank you all so much.

A brief update. First of all, thank you SO much to everyone who has donated so far. Your kindness and generosity is incredibly inspiring and honestly makes me want to cry.

Secondly, here is one of the local news articles and a video about the shelter.

Things are also coming along well with the new website. We will be adding more as we go and will be sharing additional social media. The new web address is http://deserttailsshelter.org. It's still a work in progress, but feedback is welcomed!

Lastly, we are hosting a wine and cheese fundraising event at the shelter on Monday, June 4th, from 5p-9p. Items and services will be available for bidding, such as gift baskets, dog grooming, training, and business services. Everyone is welcome to come!

We will continue to post updates as we can.

Again, thank you so very much. ❤️
