Morgan's Double Lung Transplant

Donation protected
We found out that Morgan had Cystic Fibrosis when he was 7 months old.  I knew something was wrong, contrary to what his pediatrician was telling me.  I knew because we had two other boys who were never sick.  Morgan was, and still is, a trooper.  Even as a toddler, he never fought me through the never ending treatments that he had to endure daily, and the too many to count hospital stays, which are always, atleast two weeks.

Today, 20 years later, Morgan still has an endless array of pills, breathing treatments and CPT, (chest percussion therapy), to do each and everyday of his life.  He is also on a feeding pump at night that pumps high calorie shakes into his feeding tube to help him maintain his weight.   That is a lot of responsibilities for a young adult to have to do just to stay alive.  Like I said he is our trooper.

He is now on oxygen full-time.  And the doctors are telling us it is time for him to get a double lung transplant.  His lung function is at 25%.  And with all of the scarring in his lungs there are too many cracks and crevices for bacteria to thrive.  He has two bacterias growing in his lungs that are both resistant to antibiotics.  So time is of the essence!

Vanderbilt is going to perform the transplant, but he will not be put on the list until we are living within an hour from the facility.  Here is our  dilemma.  We lost his father two years ago,  along with his support.  We live from paycheck to paycheck.  Not only is a move way out of our budget, but we have a 1996 Ford Aerostar that is on it's last leg.  It has no heat and the windows don't go down.  The reason that I am asking so much is that, not only do we need the funds to move, but we also need a dependable vehicle to get around on when we do get there.  Not to mention I will lose my income when we leave here.

If you will help us, you will be helping to save the life of an extraordinary young man, who is handsome, very intelligent, compassionate, and has the best sense of humor of anyone I know.  And did I mention that he is very brave?  He has always been our trooper through it all.  He definitely handles it better than we do.  He is my world.  And he is loved by so many.  Thank you in advance for your support.  And God bless you all.

Sincerely,
Morgan's Mom
