Help me get my dog and home back
The RV that Buzz and I were living in was towed recently. I had been watching it for a friend while he was out of town and I took on the responsibility for moving it for street sweeping as well as occasionally so it wasn't stationary for too long, which could result in a tow. The starter motor broke (rapid clicking without turning over), so it became inoperable/immobile. I was in the process of dropping the starter and testing it manually with jumper cables, had to go into the city for a couple hours, and when I came back it was gone... with my dog inside!
Both Buzz, and the vehicle were impounded. The impound/towing fee for the vehicle (1979 Minnie Winnie) is $800 (plus $70/day), plus a $200 fee for vehicle release paperwork from the Oakland Police Department. The impound fee for my dog (Australian Kelpie) is $45, plus $15/day, plus shots and vaccinations (estimated to be around $300).
I am in the process of starting my own company with a business partner and we're really close to becoming profitable, but I've been living for next to nothing in the meantime, and wasn't prepared for a financial hit like this. I had just about given up hope on ever seeing the RV again and was going to put all my energy into getting Buzz back, but that leaves us homeless and on the street. A friend of mine mentioned this site and we both agreed that it couldn't hurt to try.
The money will be used to (first and foremost) get Buzz back. Then get the RV, along with all of my personal possessions, out of impound, get it towed to a mechanic, and have it fixed up so it runs again.
This campaign means so much to me because my dog is my companion and best friend. I love him and miss him so much. The RV has become my home and while it had its downsides (no toilet, running water, or electricity) , it is a safe place for Buzz to stay when he can't come with me, and a safe and comfortable place for us to sleep at night.
Look at those ears!
Buzz and Darren enjoying the sun
Catching some rest
King of the hill
Taken moments before the string snapped *ouch*
Now what?
