Louisiana Bobcat Refuge flooded two weeks ago and the updates to this gofund me are below. Because there was a delay in gaining access to this account during the flooding, there is also an LBR sponsored gofund me account, both campaigns will fund the refuge restoration and we are forever grateful for the love and compassion shown to us through gofundme, our Amazon Wishlist and paypal. A very bleak picture during the flooding for LBR is now bright, because your LOVE is now making it possible to move into 2017 and continue the mission we began in 2010. Serving bobcats, lynx and other small exotic felids both within and outside the state of Louisiana for the purpose of conservation, education and permanent sanctuary, where the cats are never exploited as display animals for the public. Big purrs from LBR and the bobcats, lynx and bob kittens we presently serve and those in the future.
Louisiana Bobcat Refuge had just come back from Tampa, delivering a bobcat kitten that we were privileged to rehabilitate to adulthood for release at Upper Tampa Bay Park in coordination with Owl's Nest Sanctuary, when only a few days later, LBR flooded completely.

Louisiana Bobcat Refuge has been generously gifted a horse barn and outdoor kitchen with permission to renovate at their own expense for the life of the term that LBR would like to use these two buildings!
The building would be a great asset to LBR. As a friend and newly self-appointed photo-documentarian of LBR I have noticed they currently lack the facilities to assist as much as they would like to with all the bobcats that need their help in the area. And so, I have set up this fundraiser to help with the renovation and outfitting of this fantastic gift, to make it a reality for this fantastic organization.
The barn is fully outfitted with electricity and a functional sink and shower. It can be used for multiple purposes for our bobcat kittens, adult or other adult illegal LDWF assisted seizure, zoo transfers, or injured bobcats.
In order to renovate the barn to LBR's needs we will need:
-To refurbish the intake kitchen animal holding office for easy access when our vets come on site.
-Refrigeration for meds $300
-A new or used microscope for fecal checks $200
-A microwave for heating formula $80
-ThermoCare thermoregulating incubator $2285
And a few basic things to finish the renovation like:
-Tin $550
-Nails and Screws $48
-2x4s $125
-Plywood $240
-Gravel $125
-Wiring $75
-AC Unit $279
-Caging $300
-Galvanized Flat Shelf Covering $130
-Insulation $125
Our goal is to have this barn ready for next year's baby season, as we received more orphaned kittens this year than any and want to be fully prepared!

Pamela Kay Connery, LBR's Volunteer Executive Director graduated with honors from Louisiana College with a Master's in Teaching. After eight years as a classroom teacher, freelance television host and commercial spokesperson across the southeastern United States, she opened the Louisiana Bobcat Refuge.
Pamela is one of less than 20 specialized species-specific bobcat rehabilitatiors in the United States recognized by the National Wildlife Rehabilitator's Association and has more than eight years of hands-on experience with indigenous and exotic felids. She is permitted by the LDWF as a bobcat rehabilitator and NWCO bobcat live trapper.
Pamela also holds an International Wildlife Rehabilitation Certification specializing in lynx rufus (bobcat) bobcat rehabilitation. She has assisted rehabilitators nationwide and as far away as Nova Scotia in establishing governmental guidelines for bobcat rehabilitation.
Currently, she is working on the development of a gps pilot-tracking study to contribute to the ongoing research of the bobcat population within the USA. we'd love your help to save more bobcats! Big purrrs!<3
