Help Petey, My Dog, Live Better

This is really awkward for me to do. Sigh. I don't recall the last time I had to ask for 'help'. I take pride in being independent, self sufficient, able to solve problems but this time I don't think Petey, my dog, will survive unless I get help. So please read the story below and see why I'm asking for help. 

My name is John Wetsell. I've lived in Erie & Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, West Islip, New York and East Orange, New Jersey, which is right next to Newark. In all of these places but one, my beloved dog, Petey, has been with me. 

I wasn't even looking for a dog when I got Petey, however I think Petey was looking for me. Perhaps he knew that I was recently out of a relationship, sad and all alone. Petey found me at my parents place. He was a stray dog wondering the countryside for scraps of food that people would give him. 

My sister named him Petey after the Little Rascals dog even though he didn't have the patch. When I met him I was unsure if I was ready for a dog. I did take him in and soon realized that others had beaten him. 

Any quick movement and he'd cower. He would piss the floor if you picked up a magazine or newspaper. He wouldn't dare go in to the basement.

We showed each other love and our bond grew. He grew to trust me and eventually stopped cowering and being afraid of my movements. He'd follow me in to the basement and seemed to be really proud of himself the first time that he did this!

But now he's sick. The vets say he has a slipped disc and poor circulation.  He spent 3 days in the ER Hospital and he was improving. He recently took a downturn and they want to do more tests and more treatments. 

Petey doesn't have insurance or the pet care card. I've spent all of my savings and I've almost tapped out the credit card. He really needs some money now to do more tests, treatments and for the future hospitalization that he needs.

I love Petey. I want to do what I can to help him.
