My name is Lisa, but I'm known as Misei on the art sites that I frequent in order to sell my work. The picture posted for this Gofundme was drawn by me, and I continue to attempt to make my life as a self-employed artist. I live with my spouse, and we've gotten into quite a pickle...
My spouse lost their job, and things have only dwindled down since there. We attempted to both make it work selling our art, as they're also an artist but of a different form: Crafts. We figured we would try and pursuit our dream to create fursuits and commence our business called 'Shadowarc' making them, as well as costumes and accessories targetted at the anthropomorphic community. Our plan was well set out- but not funded, we attempted to sell our art to help us fund and debute it, but with our rent incoming on the 1rst and no way to really set our dream in motion- we're dreading the approach. One by one our services are being cut off, starting with our cellphone plan which is our only method to communicate with the outside world.
And if that wasn't enough, about a week ago, my spouse caught a pneumonia, and paired with their asthma, making their lung condition even worst- it was a trip to the hospital with no insurance what's so ever. This tumbled into a series of bad luck, from their health card going missing, to the Van breaking down leaving us with no mode of transportation and even MORE costs to top onto it all, needing to fix the starter and the battery, all of which we can't afford at this time. So there's no way to travel to a job if one was to be found at this time, no reliable bus to take us to places that we need. And since we live in Gatineau, any job in walking distance requires fluent bilingualism which isn't the case for us.
Working with my spouse on things brings me so much joy, the work he had previously meant a lot of time apart for us. We discovered that our true happiness is tackling things together, despite the fact our sales haven't been doing good despite our combined hard efforts- as the sites we sell our art on is a constant roller-coaster and never a set amount. We also didn't get the time to make a sturdy action plan, as everything happened so fast when the job was lost, it was just so unexpected so we were caught off guard. But we did learn that we really wish to work together, and focus on this for our lives.
So why this Gofundme? Well, we're planning to set things in motion, pay our rent most importantly, which is 1,500$, then start on our fursuit company by getting all the materials we need, and pay off our debt.
We need the funds as quickly as possible, we're making arrangements with our landlord to hold off on rent for a little bit, but we need the money- our landlord lady is so sweet, I love her to bits, and I hate inconveniencing her with this. But hopefully with your help, things will be able to fall together and we'll be able to live out our dreams.
When my spouse was working, they would be gone 12 hours a day, which made it really hard for us to get to spend any time together. Most of that 12 hours came from the travel time, so we always hoped and dreamed of a time where we could work together and spend that time together, and we both agree that it's a world of a difference being at each other's side.
So this means so much to me, that we could start our business, make the life we've always dreamed of together. As well as not lose our beautiful house, something that we've fought really hard to get together. Pay our bills, and get this second chance at getting everything back together without losing anything. I'd be forever grateful to everyone who donates, and Master and I have made it a goal to produce a sketch signed to every contributor towards our dream and future.
It would save us, from a life of homelessness, we would have nowhere to go if we lost the house. We'd be homeless, as my spouse has nowhere to go back too, and neither do I. We're both in our late 20's, and this is the first time we've found ourselves in such a tight situation. It would mean the world, seriously, we'd be eternally grateful, and find a way to give back our thanks, or pay the generosity back double in some way in our future. Because it would save us... I'm crying as I write this, we need this future. We can't go back to how things were, we can't be without this... We'd have nothing to our name if we lost everything. Our debt is high, and our life depends on this...Please.
