My father, Curtis Hays (AKA Low Down Leon) has been playing music for just about his whole life. Since his early years, he has hand written countless song lyrics and chords to use to preform.
About two years ago, he started playing at various assisted living centers and nursing homes. The unimaginable joy he brings those that come to hear him play is incredible to experience! Most songs are country or early rock. Even some that are bed ridden will make arrangements to hear him. He loves bringing that joy to all of those residents, but his music also supplements the only other Income he receives, social security. Playing sometimes 7 days a week just to help insure he and my mom have food on the table.
Today 6/13/18 after loading his van of music equipment, he went inside to freshen up before his first gig. Coming back out thirty minutes later, he noticed the van was gone. STOLEN!!! Equipment that has been part of his life for over 50 years. GONE!!! There were many sad seniors today, who had been so looking forward to hearing Low Down Leon, not to mention the devastation my father has experienced with losing so much that has meant so much to him. With living on little income they have, the liability insurance on his van will not cover the stolen vehicle or the equipment that was in it. Out of desperation to help him, we are asking for generous people to help us raise money to get Low Down Leon another vehicle and replacement equi so that he can continue to bring that joy, that so many seniors get, listening to him play. Not to mention all of us love it as well.
