Save the Malamute

Donation protected

This Alaskan Malamute was going to DIE, until we saved him. Now, we are asking that you will consider reading his story to help get him into a loving, forever home.

I received word that there were Great Pyrenees dogs that needed to be rescued and fostered early last week. This rescue became very urgent when we learned that they would be sold to meat farm if people couldn't step up and rescue them. (Yes, they still have meat farms for dogs in South Korea) These dogs were literally left to die.

A few of us loaded up and went to Seoul, South Korea to find these babies because we knew that time of the essence. As soon as I stepped out of the vehicle I was overwhelmed with the worst smell I have ever smelled. The smell was a mix between dog feces and dead animals. I couldn't see dead animals but the smell was horribly similar.

Among the Great Pyrenees dogs were several different breed types in cages raised above the ground. These cages allowed them to defecate through the grates, right next to their food and water bowls. All of the dogs were soiled with their urine and feces. Every single dog was emaciated and severely underweight. It is unknown how long they were without food and water before help arrived.

This is where I met Moose. Moose is an Alaskan Malamute who spent his entire life in a raised cage above the ground. He was among the last of the dogs to be rescued from this nightmare. This big dog was forced to live in a small cage where he could stand up turn around and lay down. He had very little movement and this is absolutely no way for any dog to live.

What makes Moose's case so different than the others is that the Great Pyrenees have a great rescue working and paying to get these dogs back to the United States. However, there has not been anyone to step up and rescue the Malamutes. This is when I knew exactly what we had to do. We had no choice but to SAVE HIM. Leaving him behind in those conditions was absolutely not an option.

We are going to need your help! We need help covering the costs of getting him back home to the United States, so that he may have a better chance of getting adopted by a forever family. We are asking for your donations to help with the cost of flying and his kennel. Everything else that he will need will come out of our pocket: vet care, food, and all the proper paperwork.

We are a military family of 5 and we would be incredibly thankful for any amount of donation you can give. We just want to point out that we are military so that you will know our purpose for living in South Korea.

If you can't donate, please consider sharing Moose's story so that he may have a chance of coming home to find his forever family.
