Save Dean's BBQ

For those of you who didn't know, the pit at Dean's BBQ (in Jonesboro, Georgia) caught fire the night of March 14th, and the damage was extensive.  We had 28 hams on the pit, slow cooking, to serve our customers the next day.  Needless to say, those got a little too done for our liking, so we had to toss them out!

Trips to the county departments for permitting the repairs has now turned what we thought would be "repairs to the existing structure" into a "tear down and rebuild".  That means everything...the wood structure, the electrical, the pit, the metal roofing as well as repairs to the damage sustained to the main building (doors, ceilings & walls adjoining the pit area).

The problems are many, but the biggest are...there's no insurance money (the pit wasn't covered), there's not enough money saved to rebuild, nor is there any money coming in to fund it.

Without the help of friends, family and the community, Dean's BBQ's 70 year run will end and the dream of Essie and Jessie Dean will sadly be forced to close.
