Help with Prof. Adamo's legal expenses

Donation protected
Students in Prof. Phil Adamo's "Scholar Citizen" course complained when he quoted the N-word in a discussion of a James Baldwin novel, The Fire Next Time. Following this, Augsburg University’s administration removed Adamo from his classroom. The American Association of University Professors (AAUP ) and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) both said that this action violated Adamo's academic freedom. Augsburg claimed their reasons for removing Adamo were bias and discrimination, disrespect for students, teaching ineffectiveness, and flawed program leadership—accusations that came only after the classroom incident, and after an exemplary career of almost two decades at the university. Augsburg conducted an investigation. The  AAUP,  FIRE, and others advocated on Adamo's behalf. The investigation concluded with Adamo returning to the classroom.

I present this narrative based upon my understanding of the facts, as a private citizen and not as a representative of Augsburg University. If you would like to read the university's version of these events, please go to AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY STATEMENT REGARDING ONGOING INCLUSIVITY REVIEW

Although I will return to the classroom, all of this came with legal costs of roughly $15,000. Your support today will help off-set those costs.

"I've always tried to live within my means, but it's hard to plan for legal expenses like this, that come out of the blue. I'm grateful for all the moral support I've gotten to return me to the classroom. I'm also grateful for any amount you can give to help me cover the legal bills. Many thanks!"
