Romani is located in Millfield NSW. The owners Will & Shane have exhausted themselves financially & emotionally trying to keep their herd in good condition during the drought. But with no rain or end in sight, they now need to ask for help to keep their herd going through the Winter & possibly beyond if no rain comes.
After struggling with the ongoing dry conditions for months now, Romani had to put to rest one of their beautiful cows last Friday.

"It was so bloody heart wrenching. I have been leaving work every second day an hour earlier to get home with enough day light to feed out and be able to see how everyone is wearing during this ongoing drought! I remember seeing (TWIN CEDARS LADY IN RED) that night looking very poor in condition but up with the others getting her share of Silage, She was a cow around the 10 years old mark and a very quiet girl. My dad always said to me during hard times the older girls wear the hardest when things get tough. To then see her on Friday night at the next feed out lying flat out with no strength to get up, I knew it was over for her the drought had destroyed all her will to live. Her calf a heifer in now with all the others being weaned on high protein calf pellets and silage. RIP LADY IN RED"

Shane has weaned the babies earlier than usual to try & ensure the best survival for both mother & calf, but now those babies are needing high protein pellet & silage to sustain them. The herd also has quite a few cows ready to calve next month into conditions which are not ideal. Feed is getting harder & harder to get, & freight costs for haulage quite high. This farm needs help now to raise the money to secure feed before conditions & availability becomes worse.
The drought in NSW is not being reported and the affect it is having on small breeders is devastating. Farmers are losing stock in the most devastating circumstances and are going bankrupt trying to save their animals. People need to save these animals and support the people trying to keep them alive. Politicians need to help, Romani Galloways is just one group that needs support to keep their animals alive, and we need to continue to put the plight of these farmers and animals into the limelight. Let’s get behind this farm and keep their animals alive!
