Please meet Lev, who has a birthday each day. A wonder child? — He is definitely for us: his parents. But the reason to have a birthday each day is that Lev has been fighting and surviving a Leukemia for four months since he was diagnosed back in November 2017.

We are immeasurably grateful to all kind people who helped Lev to get to this point in treatment, providing financial and emotional support!

Fight Goes On

Despite some positive dynamic after chemotherapy, Lev has to go through a stem cell transplantation (aka SCT) in early May. Doctors say he has an excellent prognosis for success judging from his response to the latest chemo block and also due to the perfect 10/10 match with the donor, who has already been luckily identified and reserved for our son.

However, after expensive chemo which drained not only our family savings but also savings of our close friends, we will not be able to cover the expense of the SCT without your help!

Our Plan

SCT base cost is estimated to be €250,000. SCT will be executed at Helsinki University Clinic HUS, K10 Ward. It is on the list of top 8  countries with the highest survival rates for children. We want him to live.
Lev is very much lucky to be at K10. Doctors who manage his treatment are not only practitioners but scientists who continuously contribute to the worldwide study on pediatric cancer treatment.
Dr. Jukka Kanerva, Dr. Kirsi Jahnukainen  and Dr. Mervi Taskinen.

Please join our GoFundMe campaign to make it possible for Lev to live and to have a happy life.

We are opening this campaign for a full amount and will correct it once we have locked down donations from other sources and see how treatment goes. This way you will be able to track progress. Updates on Lev condition will also happen here; please read the latest updates.

100% of donations from this campaign (minus 7.5% fees) will be transferred directly to the clinic account. Still, if you are willing to make a direct transfer to the clinic, please get in touch with me for guidance.

I know that Lev will never mean as much to you as he does to my wife and me, but we are facing this giant financial need to save his life, and we're helpless without your donations. Natasha and I are infinitely grateful to each of you, who can help. Please donate, Lev will not make it without you.
We want this cute guy back to normal.

This was quite of a ride last couple months. But this morning we have got (finally) labs of the latest bone marrow sampling. Lev's bone marrow is clean. That's a massive relief. Again.
We also stopped immune suppression drugs, that means he can slowly attend public places and play with other kids. Skies are waiting for us!
Our hugs to all the people who helped us to carry out all the struggles of 2018. You are incredible. May your families be safe and happy!
We hit the Play button of 2019. Meet you there!

Guess who’s back? :)

Finally in Ukraine, in Kyiv, at home. We were hoping to get back for the loooong ten months, and it finally happened. Each of you became that integral force which brought us all back h-o-m-e. We bow down to all of you who took part in this. You literally saved a life (and four fates :).
At the end of August, bone marrow tests showed that results are stable and at the beginning of September doctors allowed us to get back to Ukraine and… “go to the sauna.” Finnish doctors have interesting traditions :))
As before, there is a long path for recovery during which Lev’s not allowed to interact with children (and be cautious with adults), but he is thrilled to get back to his apartment, fluffy friends and native habitat. Yea.. one doesn’t need much to be happy.
We still need to build all the medical infrastructure from scratch, though, but it’s immeasurably exciting to get back home. We cradle in our arms each of you who helped us along the way. You have warm hearts that made this world better and easier for the living. T-H-A-N-K—Y-O-U!

P.S. on a side note we thank to The Ministry of Health of Ukraine for their support.

Now it's official! You may uncork your sparkling wine. Bone marrow test results arrived and guess what—no leukemia cells detected and 100% of new bone marrow without a sign of Lev's "old" tissues. There will be one more bone marrow test at the end of August (although, there will be more during the year), to confirm that the result is stable. HUGE THANKS TO YOU FOR THE HELP AND SUPPORT. YOU LITERALLY SAVED A LIFE. I hug and kiss each of you.
Donations campaign will be closed now. We are on a safe side financial wise, thanks to all the donors in the first row and Ministry of Health of Ukraine. All collected money from this campaign have already been transferred to the Hospital.
We will post updates from time to time here, so you know how your "investment" is doing )

Thank you for making that happened!

It's been a week since Lev got his bone marrow transplant. Natasha and I are so thankful to all of you, our guarding angels who donated and helped us to cover expenses. You're incredible! Lots of hugs from us to each and every one of you.

I'd say we're still during the hard times riding down on a rollercoaster, but only to make our turn upwards in a week or so, when engraftment will happen, and new bone marrow will start fixing all the damaged tissues. Lev get's pretty much of a supportive and pain medication as his own tissues die off, but new still are not generating. And with such an incredible not only financial but also emotional support, we definitely know we'll make it through.

Around the end of June Lev will have his first bone marrow sample examination and we will know how did it go with transplantation. For now, everything goes as doctors would expect. So fingers crossed and will update right after BM sample results available.

Have a great weekend, spend it with people you love. And don't forget to call your mom to say you're ok :)
