It is with great sadness that we report that SU Treasury won't fund KWUR Week this year. We were funded for $0 last night, based on a 90 percent rule infraction from last spring (we didn't spend enough money) and a slippery slope argument about making exceptions for student groups, even for historic events (this would be the 27th edition of KWUR Week).

We understand that the goal of this campaign is crazy high. ~20k is how much treasury has been willing to fund us for KWUR Week in the last few years, and it's what we asked for again. We don't expect to raise that much money in the few days we have to pull this together, but anything would help. Funding the smaller shows is our priority, and we feel it’s feasible. We don't love the idea of being dependent on charitable donations and understand that there are plenty of amazing places you can send your money.

We do, however, have a whole lot of merchandise that we'd love to send you! Pictures are available in the drive folder linked at the end of this post. If you email gmkwur@gmail.com with the design you'd like / size if applicable and your address, we'll get that over to you as soon as this madness dies down. For reference, we generally charge $10 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve. Shipping is a few dollars. We would also love to see anyone at the shows who can make it! We'll update this page with a final schedule of what is actually happening once we know.

Our appeal slides are also linked below and contain all of the funding information. Here is the summary:

Anna Burch w/ student openers (3/18) - $3,000 artist fee + security, audio services, rider requests
Local Showcase w/ PRYR, Jay D'Andre, Le'Ponds, and Danielle Taylor (3/20) - $1,000 ($250 each) + security
Junglepussy w/ Dolly Spartans (3/22) - 10,000 Junglepussy artist fee, 1,500 Dolly Spartans artist fee + security, audio services, rider requests, and a cleanup of the Gargoyle
Classical show featuring two harpsichordists (3/25) - $500 to help the music department

All shows besides classical would be held in the Gargoyle. This is also the Gargoyle's last year of existence so we really want to make this happen - they're gutting it and turning it into office space. We may adjust the schedule as we gauge what is feasible and what isn't.

We are seeking some alternative funding routes and if we manage to pull something off we will refund anyone who donated. We have about a week to pull this off though, so we would appreciate donations sooner rather than later.

If you're interested in helping us out, we'd love to have your help! KWUR friends are the best friends and we love you <3

Hey everyone! We’ve got a bit of a more in-depth update for you all, as we are quickly approaching the point at which we have to finalize plans for KWUR week. We’re SO excited because, thanks predominantly to everyone’s response here, we have moved forward with the Anna Burch show and the local showcase. This is a goal we weren’t sure we were going to make and we're so thankful for the support.

Because GoFundMe withdraws funds on Mondays and how close the events are to happening, only donations through the end of today will be able to go directly to KWUR Week. Any farther donations will go to cutting down the percentage of our fundraising account that we have to use - we unfortunately rely heavily on that account for emergency equipment purchases and would not like to drain it.

We’re continuing our outreach to SU to help us out and have also reached out to other organizations that we think may be interested in pitching in. If you know of anyone who may want to partner with us, send us a message on facebook or an email and let us know!

Beyond that, though, we’re close to securing Dolly Spartans, and we’re only about $1000 off from that goal, after taking into account the smaller amount of our general club savings. If you’ve already donated, share the GoFundMe on Facebook/twitter/insta/whatever or send it to a couple friends, and, if you haven’t, consider doing so or just spreading the word -- literally any amount helps.

Again -- this is entirely thanks to you all. The response we’ve received has been overwhelming and everyone on exec and in the broader KWUR community is immensely grateful. We're also working hard to ensure that KWUR Week does not have to depend on your charity again and we will try to keep everyone updated on that. Also -- a reminder that we have merch that we very much want to give to you all, so if you’re interested and have donated already, shoot us an email at gmkwur@gmail.com per the details in the original post (Jack will be responding to your emails this week and hopefully shipping by the end of the week).

Thanks so much for all the wonderful donations + comments + help + love, it warms our hearts.

Thanks to all of your generous and kind donations we currently have enough funding to have Anna Burch and the Local Showcase! We're still looking to have a show on Friday and are looking at many options for that, but we are so excited and grateful to you all!
