Save Kin Park

Kin park is the oldest race track in Canada, and we do not want to see it taken over by the city.  For many years people put blood sweat and tears to keep it going. With so many good memories there we do not want to see the park destoyed. People came from all over the interior, and some even from the USA to be apart of the races. I, myself have so many memories and spent so much time there. My grandparents trained their horses there for many years, with two of their children becoming jockies, one of them being my mother, racing and excersising horses. As the years went on and my mom had myself and my two brothers we were always at the race track, helping hot walk horses, and cleaning stalls. We learnt about horses from the generations of people involed in horse racing.

For years the equestrian society has been fighting against the city of Vernon, after the city went against the agreement they had about maintaining Kin Race Track. The city bought the land for $1 in exchange for a legal agreement that the track would forever be used for horse racing. The society has been fighting for the park, and trying our best to raise money to keep the park operating. The land was given to the Equestrian Society to use for horse racing and other equestrian events and we do not want the park to go to the city and be turned into something that the land was not donated for. The park is currently in rough shape but it does still have the race track, arena, and baseball diamonds in the center. With hopes that we win the case, court date set in March 2017, the park will be fixed up and used for equestrian events, and animal use.
