Save the DMD Work Files

In May 2010, I started a little comic project that came to be known as "Doomsday, My Dear". Eight and a half years later, I'm still updating, the story is over halfway complete, and I'm excited to keep going.
Unfortunately, I made what was apparently the grievous mistake of backing up all my DMD work files on a Western Digital hard drive, which I barely touched but which has, as we in polite society like to say, totally eaten shit.
The hard drive is in the shop right now, and in order for them to even try and save anything, I agreed to what will ultimately be a $750-900 charge if they're successful. I had to agree, because otherwise over 400 pages of my biggest and most dear personal project would be irrevocably lost.
The comic is, as you know, still available to read online at www.doomsdaymydear.com with all the pages intact. However (for those unfamiliar with the process), losing the work files means I will never be able to touch up, reformat, or even have the pages in a high enough resolution that they could ever be printed again.
I had hoped to attempt another book run, and had hoped that, when all is said and done, there could exist a full-color omnibus of the entire comic. Without those files, that simply won't be possible.
I'm asking for help in raising $900 for this hard drive recovery, because I was laid off recently and I don't even know many working people who have that kind of money to throw around. Any assistance will be hugely appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: If the hard drive cannot be recovered, I will put the money toward merchandising in other ways.
