Save Coltrane

On Friday June 16th my friend Teryn found a dog wandering near The Grove.  He had a collar but no leash and no one was around. She called me and I went and picked both her and the dog up. We took him to a nearby vet who found that he was micro-chipped. I called the owners and they basically told me they could not take care of the dog. 

I took the dog for a few hours and tried to find a place for him, being that my dog Britches does not get along with big dogs. Teryn also has two pitbulls at home and cannot have another dog in her apartment. Unable to find a foster home, we have been boarding him at my vet at night and missing work to try and find him a home and can no longer afford to do so. 

He is a Staffordshire Terrier, approximately 2 years old. Male, neutered and up to date on all his shots. He weighs 75 lbs. He does need a lot of exercise and he has a lot of energy but he's very sweet and loves to cuddle. He's also really good with other dogs - I've been taking him to dog parks through out the week and he's never shown any aggression towards any size dog but he is boisterous in play. 

Ideally, I would love to find him a forever home but have no way to continue to take care of him financially. I have possibly found a rescue in Riverside that might consider taking him. However, they can't do so until next week at the earliest and they have a surrender fee of $170. The rest of the money collected will go into keeping him safe and boarded at the vet until a foster, resue or home situation can be found.  Any additional money that is donated through this campaign will be given to the rescue organization that takes him in.
