Save Carlos Suarez De Jesus
This past week our friend and fellow artist, Carlos Suarez De Jesus, had to be rushed to the Mercy Hospital for crushing chest pains and after a week’s stay he had three stents placed in his heart to unblock occlusions to his arteries.
Carlos suffered a stroke in June of 2016, and was hospitalized in July of 2017, again in May 2018 and twice this December with heart problems.
For more than a year he was living with his mother, Teresa, and nursing her as she dealt with the onslaught of Alzheimer’s Disease.
When his beloved “Bella,” was moved to an assisted living facility, earlier this year, Carlos’ condition worsened.
His hospital bills are mounting and he has been homeless since the end of October. Carlos has also been parted from Petunia, his beloved Chiweenie companion. He has been couch surfing at the homes of friends and supporters.
Carlos is a well-known South Florida artist, art critic and animal lover respected for his support of local charitable causes.
Those of us who know and love Carlos share faith that his indomitable spirit and profound caring nature will serve him well as he struggles to recover his health and dignity.
Unfortunately dealing with the financial burdens of medical care and homelessness are a devastating impediment to his path to healing.
He is currently unable to earn a living while he recuperates and has applied for disability benefits. Carlos had also been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, COPD and Congenital Heart Disease. But those of us fortunate enough to share our lives with him recognize Carlos as an unstoppable force of nature.
We need to help him raise the funds necessary to convalesce in peace and tranquility. We pray to help Carlos reunite with Petunia and his Bella to uplift his spirit and mend his broken heartedness.
The faster we can reunite Carlos with his family and help him with the treatment he needs the better his prognosis will be and the speedier his recovery.
One can never prepare for the challenge’s life presents us. But we are reaching out to the legions of those he has helped and supported to aid him in his moment of need to turn his fortunes around.
