Thanks to Everyone who have already donated,

From talking to Stephanie, she is overwhelmed by the support and love the community has shown her.   If we want to give her and Capogiro the beautiful Christmas miracle they deserve, everyone's support would be needed.  See below for the full story and make a donation today.

After 16 years of serving up the best gelato many of us have ever tasted, Capogiro shut down all operations Sunday 12/9/2018.  Their communication to media says that they are closing due to losses suffered as a result of the old city fire earlier this year.

In addition:

"Sadly for its many fans, Capogiro may be gone forever — and if it does return, Philly might not be where. The Reitanos will lose their house because of the financial difficulties, and their youngest son is about to graduate from high school, so there’s nothing really keeping them in the city."

This is what spurred me to action.  I’ve never done a campaign like this but I have to believe that there are enough people like myself who can not imagine Capogiro going away after so many sweet memories.  Stephanie Reitano (owner) has endorsed this campaign, and is in the process of getting set up to receive all proceeds of this campaign.

I am not personally affiliated with the owners of Capogiro and this campaign should have no expectations of outcome other than a possibility to maybe save Capogiro.  I will stay on to administrate this campaign as long as Stephanie wishes.  This means if the owners decide not to reopen in the Philly area, we as fans must respect their wishes.  After all they must do what is right by their family first and foremost.  In any case, regardless of their next steps, these funds will hopefully get them through what is undoubtedly a trying time and express our gratitude for the many years of joy they've brought to us.

Come join me as we attempt to save this Philadelphia treasure and give the Reitanos a helping hand since they've given us so much over the years.  God bless and happy holidays.

**Please share this campaign by facebook or twitter or tell your friends and family in person or email, if you know anyone in media pass on the campaign to help us get the word out.  Thank you.**

Gofundme required info:

1. My name is Bo Wang and I live in West Chester Pennsylvania but used to live 1 block away from the Rittenhouse location of Capogiro.
2. I have no direct connection to the Reitanos but have grown up with Capogiro from almost the beginning about 13 years ago.
3. These funds are intended to help the Reitanos with any financial difficulty that resulted from their operation of Capogiro, but the owners will have 100% discretion how to dispose of these funds.
4. It is intended for the Reitano's to be added to this campaign as administrators and so they can make direct withdraws and have full editorial control of updates, duration, information, $ amount sought...

Ciao Tutti! I want to thank everyone here, especially super human Bo Wang. John and I have been brought to our knees following the outpouring of love and support we have received. It was overwhelming to hear from so many customers, colleagues and past employees. We have watched some of you grow from college students to parents and from children to adults. Thank you. It means more than I can express. I apologize for the long delay in my response. It has been so incredibly painful. I feel as though I am mourning a death. I have just been able to reach out to many of you today.

Since our closure, we have been contacted by a number of potential investors. We are doing the dance and are hopeful that something may surface. The City has stepped in and expressed its desire to keep us in Philly. This process moves slowly.

Thank you to all those who reached out to me with jobs and opportunities for my employees. Most have landed in great places and I am so grateful for that. Some have been with me for up to 16 years and it is painful to know I caused them distress.

Many have asked about losing our home. Yes, we used our home to secure loans. We are adults and knew what we were doing. It is just a home. We believed that it was a safe bet, but that Old City fire could not have been seen. We accept our fate. Please don't fret.

We are proud to be Philadelphians and want to remain here in this great city. Your support is amazing. Thank you. Thank you, Bo for this.

Again, I apologize for the silence. I am so grateful.
With affection,
Stephanie

Friends of Capogiro, thank you every one for your generous donation. I had the pleasure, although I wish it were under better circumstances, to speak with Stephanie today. She was kind enough to fill me in on more of the background of what lead to the unfortunately closure of Capogiro.

Without divulging details, all I will say is that they have put so much of their life and on the line in the last 16 years in order to serve us delicious gelato for no reason other than the love of the craft that my eyes could not stay dry hearing just some of their struggles. They are continuing to look for any and all avenues available to them to get back on their feet, although at this point there is no details they can share since everything is still developing. In the words of Stephanie, this is a "Hail Mary" attempt to save Capogiro. Please be patient, please be respectful, and please if you can, make a donation.

Because of what I've heard will add an additional $50 to my own donation. Please tell your friends, family, anyone in the news media that you know that the campaign could use their help. And thanks again for anyone who has already donated, I can say unequivocally Stephanie appreciates your generosity.

All, Stephanie has accepted the invitation to be a fundraising team member. She has been invited to be a full beneficiary but it looks like gofundme needs identity verification, which is normal part of their process and completely understandable. Thanks for everyone's donation.

All, I have established contact with Stephanie Reitano (owner) and have officially invited her to be the sole beneficiary of all funds generated in this campaign. I don't know if I will still be able to do anything administratively once see accepts the invite but please know that this campaign is now officially sanctioned by Stephanie Reitano (owner). @Stephanie, if you do get full access and I get locked out just make any changes you'd like. This campaign was also for you, your family, and Capogiro. I will continue to make updates as the system, or the Reitano family allows. Please dig deep and help these fine folks.
