Rolo is our bubbly, quirky, fun-loving, 3 year old boy. This past Thursday he fell down the stairs and suffered a trauma to his shoulder that has caused swelling near his spine. As a result he is currently paralysed from the neck down. He is in need of constant monitoring at the vets, and they need to be able to flip him frequently. The vet explains that when the swelling goes down Rolo is expected to make a FULL recovery. It is only a matter of time. His care until then is very expensive, and no one knows when his swelling will go down. It could be days, weeks or months. However we are running out of money. It breaks our heart to think of having to put down our recovering baby because we simply run out of money and cannot do anything else to help him.
This is why we are asking for YOUR help to save Rolo. Give him a chance to recover, to get on his feet again and be the fun-loving, bouncing boy we know and love. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Every donation gives him more time to recover.

Final Pupdate:
Last night, Rolo crossed over the rainbow bridge. It is hard to talk about, hence the delay of this update.
We were expecting a full recovery for Rolo, and were utterly heart broken to have to let him go. Rolo was not getting better anymore, his condition was getting worse. The vets explained that his loss of muscle over two weeks, paired with his heavy weight would make it near impossible for him to walk again. In addition, he developed another infection, in his elbow. Rolo was in pain, and he was giving up his fight. Our vet told us yesterday that in her opinion, the humane choice would be to put him down, and when we looked at him and saw the pain, we knew it was time to let him go. We did everything we could to help him, and we still couldn't save him.

Rolo was our angel, our happy baby boy. We will miss coming home to his squirming body, we will miss his sweet love and affection, every nibble, cuddle and hug. We'll miss his expressive eyes and funny spirit. He was the best dog we could ask for, and at least, we are happy to have had three wonderful years with him.
Thank you all so much for your donations, for making his treatment possible and giving us the opportunity to say we did EVERYTHING we could to save him. And thank you all for your warm wishes, and words of encouragement that enabled us to persist in times of worry.
Thank you all so much, for caring for Rolo deeply in his final weeks.

❤️ Rolo ❤️

Rolo's Pupdate:

Bad news today. Unfortunately, we have just heard that Rolo was not accepted to be transferred to the vet with water therapy, as the facility is full until June. We are currently exploring more options, while he stays at his current vet. He is receiving physio and vet care here, however it is clear to us that he is losing his motivation.
We're worried about his quality of life, as we still aren't seeing much improvement. The vets explain that they were expecting him to be moving his paws by now. He is also coming in and out of fevers everyday, despite antibiotics. They are going to do tests to see if he has a resistant infection.

We wish there was more we can do for him. We want to bring him home, and we aren't ready to give up, but we do need to consider his happiness. For now, we're going to focus on cheering him up, and making him happy, then we will see how he feels in a few days. Our goal is to revitalize his zest for live, and therefore motivate him to continue trying to move.
Here he is during our visit of the day:

Rolo's Pupdate:
Firstly, thank you ALL SO much for the unbelievable amount of support and donations. Our family is shocked and elated by your generosity.

Unfortunately, today Rolo is feeling quite sad. He has been at the hospital for just over a week and he wants to go home. The vets are starting to worry because he is losing muscle mass, and still not progressing much in terms of his paralysis. If he loses too much muscle mass before he can even begin to move, walking will be a difficult task. However, thanks to YOU, we have a plan. On Monday we are transferring him to care that specializes in water therapy and physio for large dogs, we believe that this will give him his absolute best chance for a fast recovery, as we are worried about his muscle loss.
Thanks to your generosity and kindness, we can give him his best care. All of you are making this possible. We would not have been able to continue his care past today let alone transfer him to a facility even more equipped to encourage his recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU ❤️

Good (and a bit of bad) news from the vet today! We are seeing the first signs of progress that his swelling is going down, as he was able to twitch his front left paw today and move around his head more!
The bad news is he has developed a UTI from his catheter, resulting in a fever. This shouldn't be a big worry as they are flushing it out with antibiotics and monitoring him closely!
We want to thank you all again for your continued support and donations. Our family is feeling incredibly grateful for the overwhelming generosity thus far.
Although we are seeing progress, Rolo is still a while off of being recovered, so your continued support by sharing his story again would be much appreciated! We are excited that our boy may be able to come home again, and smile like this thanks to you all :)
If you have any questions, ask!
:D
