Save Auroraman

It’s with a very heavy heart that I do this, swallow my pride and ask for your help to save Auroraman. I didn’t want to go this way but in order to be able to keep creating The Adventures of Auroraman I will need some help to overcome this current crazy situation that I am in.
In 2016 I held my breath and launched a crowdfunding campaign to introduce my very own comic book character to the indie Canadian comic book world - the Super Power of the Prairies, Auroraman! After a wildly successful campaign and whirlwind first response to the comic book I discovered that I was not alone in my love of this idea. In 2017 I undertook another crowdfunding campaign to fund the giant sized issue 1 and a collaborative novel with a Prairie author who writes superhero fiction. We teamed our characters up in prose format for this project as well as a short intro comic piece in issue 1. Again the campaign was a success and I spent time at various comic shows, trade shows as well as presenting in schools!
It was in the fall of 2017 that the unthinkable happened. I was awaiting the printing of issue 1 to debut at the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo in Saskatoon as well as getting the rewards done for the crowdfunding supporters. I went to pay some bills to discover that all the money in my bank account had been taken out. Countless hours spent on the phone with the bank and several investigations lasting almost a full year have brought me to this fall when the worst news hit. All the investigations came to the same conclusion - the bank was not liable for the missing money and I wouldn’t be able to get any of if back. This leaves me with all of the debt that this money was raised to cover - printing costs of the comic, the novel, artists fees, and shipping out rewards.
Needless to say this has been a devastating blow to me and to my ability to continue to make Auroraman comics. I have kept my summer job on a part time basis to try and help pay for things but it’s very slow going and very difficult to work on new stuff. I’ve been moving forward with work as much as possible and have even landed a partnership the local 7-11 to carry the comics and merchandise in store. This has developed into the opportunity to see my comic in more 7-11s in Saskatchewan and even Manitoba too. For this I need to have fresh stock and for this I need to get this huge unexpected debt cleared away.
So thats the long story, I wasn’t really going to go this road but just picking away at this a little at a time has made me really depressed and I can hardly stomach working at Auroraman stuff because it seems pointless. Every little bit is a huge help already and just the fact you’ve read this far is awesome, thank you!
