Academy Riding Stables has been a community treasure and an important part of Colorado Spring’s history for 80 years. The business provided fun and scenic guided horseback adventures through the Garden of the Gods to people of all ages and skill levels. It was a family run business that sought to serve fellow families. Generations upon generations have come to enjoy and share in the gift that Academy Riding Stables has been to Colorado. Sadly, the future of this treasured and valuable institution is in jeopardy.
For those of you who are unaware of what has come to threaten the fate of Academy riding stables, let me provide for you a brief yet harrowing summary of what has happened. A few years ago, George Armstrong (one of the original owners) of Academy Riding Stables was unlawfully forced out of his own business through the actions of a few individuals. These individuals became the new management and George Armstrong has been fighting back to regain his business ever since. As I am sure most of you have seen in the news stories, these individuals took all actions possible to try and forcibly close a once thriving and healthy business. Thankfully, the courts have sided with George Armstrong and successfully intercepted their actions however, these individuals have left the business in complete disarray. Without notice, staff was fired, phones were turned off, and horses were set to be auctioned off! There were no resources left and everything that was needed to help the business function, was missing!
The amazing news is, George Armstrong is back and fighting tooth and nail to restore Academy Riding Stables back to the community. Against all odds and many obstacles, George Armstrong has restored, reconnected and re established every aspect of the business with little to no resources that were left for him to continue operations.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help George Armstrong continue his success in restoring Academy Riding Stables.
