Sarstoon Island Eco Challenge 2017

$2,095 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 14 people in 17 months
Last year we raised a little under $2,000 via GoFundMe campaign and back yard fundraiser.  While the fund raising effort was woefully short of the goal of $10,000, it was enough to help host a successful first ever Sarstoon Island Eco Challenge.  Over 400 people attended and about 40 kayakers and canoers participated.  Please see video of last year’s event attached to this fundraising campaign.  All of the money raised went to help cover costs for the event such as t-shirts, bus cost, prizes.   Thank you, once again, to all donors from last year.  Please donate again this year and donate early so we can create some momentum and make the event even better.  Please recruit new donors.

BTV has done a tremendous job at the grassroots level asserting Belize’s territorial integrity in the face of great threat and adversity.  Their efforts did not stop at just one event.  It’s all year round.  They incur fuel and maintenance costs and put in a lot of time and energy to keep Belizeans informed about what’s happening on our Southern borders.  All those who are paying attention know that Guatemala military continues to enter Belizean territory with impunity.  While we have no beef with the Guatemalan people, we want to live in peace and we want the Guatemalan government to respect Belize’s territorial integrity.

Please help me to raise funds in support of this September's Sarstoon Island Eco Challenge 2017.  No matter your political affiliation, whether you are for or against going to the ICJ, standing up for Belize’s territorial integrity in peaceful solidarity should be a no brainer.  It is simply the patriotic and right thing to do.

Furthermore, any positive activity and sustainable tourism development that can be brought to the beautiful Barranco Village would be an added bonus.  This event has a great potential to become a significant annual affair that shows our patriotism and pride and brings a much needed positive economic impact and attention to a remote area in Belize.

Let’s pull together once again and help BTV to grow this event.  If you’d like to be a corporate sponsor or fundraising champion (by hosting back yard fundraisers, for example) please inbox me via facebook.
