$22,857 of $1.0M goal

Raised by 201 people in 6 months
I am Lennie, Sara's mom, and I am asking you to save my daughters life by donating to www.sarascure.org   . Without a treatment for Clear Cell Sarcoma, Sara and others are left helplessly wondering how much time is left.  Scans every few months and surgery to stay ahead of the tumors is the best we have. There is hope in a 1st of its kind drug that needs critical funding to get through preclinical studies and to a trial.  We have researchers/scientist ready to go but we are in need of the funds. We can do this but we need your help NOW!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Sarcoma makes up 20% of childhood cancers. Will you please watch our short video and learn about our families story and the path to save Sara's life and the lives of other young people battling Clear Cell Sarcoma? ++Your donation is tax deductible ++

32292290_1536597710252427_r.jpegClear cell sarcoma affects approximately 150 patients each year in the USA.  The survival rate is very low beyond 5 years and has not changed in decades.   Big pharmaceutical companies don't see profit with such a rare disease so its up to families to fund the needed drugs trials.

Here is what you can do now to save Sara and others

* Donate any amount! Donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small

* Email this GoFundMe link  to all contacts you know- going viral saves lives!

* Remind everyone that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness, this is a way to make a real difference

* Share this on all your social media sites with hashtags: #sarascure #Scottscure #strongertogether #fundingacure

With your help the two non profits of  Sarascure.org  and Chilidrens Cancer Therapy Development Institute will work to get these critical drugs to children with cancer.  We will use your donation specifically on a  CCS treatment to save Sara and others but we can't do it without having these funds.

32292290_1536597997925527_r.jpegYour donation will also save Natalie who is battling Clear Cell Sarcoma while attending college.

32292290_1536599347929281_r.jpegYour donation will help find Scott’s cure for Clear Cell Sarcoma and so many others
32292290_1537027113447490_r.jpegHenry Banville passed away July 8, 2018 from CCS.  He fought hard for 2 years and was only 39.  Henry had begun work with sarascure earlier this year and asked his wife Karrie to keep advocating and working to find a treatment/cure in his memory.  You are helping families like Henry's.  You can read Henrys story on Sarascure.org -who we are-personal journeys

Big pharmaceutical companies won't invest so its up to families to fund the needed drugs trials.

Please help save my daughters life and the lives of those battling Clear Cell Sarcoma.  We can do this with your donation! Its tax deductible ID# 82-5445706 sarascure.org

Every cent goes to Sarascure.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to funding the cure for clear cell sarcoma.  Sarascure.org works closely with scientists and institutions across the USA that are dedicated to a cure for Sarcoma.  This campaign will use every single dollar on drugs created to work directly on the gene fusions that causes Clear Cell Sarcoma. Children and young adults are desperately trying to stay alive while waiting on this funding.  We are confident we can get there in 12 months but we need the funds Now to get started.

No parent should have to watch a child suffer or die knowing that money will lead to the cure.  Your donation will give Sara and thousands of future patients a chance to live and dream about a future full of possibilities . Time is the enemy.  I need your help now to save my child.  All donations over and above the amount needed to fund these trials will go to Children's Cancer Therapy Development Institute (cc-TDI) another non profit for researching rare Childhood cancers.  I make you a mother's promise that every dollar will make a difference in childhood cancer research.

It has been weighing on me for weeks now that I need to write an update. I don’t even know how to begin but here goes… Back in September 2018 Denny and I made the leap of faith to sign an agreement with the research lab cc-TDI. We agreed to raise funds to support the salary of a cancer research scientist who will focus on CCS. The director, Dr. Charles Keller, called it a “Pillsbury bakeoff” meaning we would choose the best of the current drugs available on the market that work on other cancers and conditions. They will test unlimited combinations of these drugs against CCS cell lines/patient tissue to see where there is a “winner” or “winners”. Each drug is a Targeted therapy and has its own strategy. Some have been around for 30 years or more and some are not even in clinical trials yet. That is why this Go fund me page was started.
Saras Cure is raising the funds for this bake off through this page, as well as widespread community events. Back in September Denny and I knew God would guide and provide as he has throughout our lives. We had no idea what was about to happen. On Sept 19, 2018 the morning after we landed from a trip to MSKCC for Saras 3 month scan, our youngest daughter Jackie came to our bed to tell us her neck was swollen. I couldn’t even see her collarbone. That afternoon we met with her pediatrician and would soon find out she has Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage 3. Yes, both of my children have cancer now. This is why it has been so hard to follow up and keep updating this go fund me page. We felt beat down and defeated. Telling our own family was devastating and when we told others, we almost needed to console them. It was just so shocking for all even those that even barely know us. We went right back to MSKCC to get a second opinion and find out if we had a familial syndrome that predisposed our kids to cancer. Our focus was Jackie in the moment but both Denny and I were thinking in no way can we continue the fight for Saras Cure for CCS research AND fight to keep our kids alive while working and paying the bills. We tried to make sure we didn’t show our fear and concern about the future of our family in front of Jackie. It was hard. We barely told anyone back home yet. We were living in what felt like an altered reality. While in NYC and putting Jackie through a battery of tests Denny’s phone rang. It was Dru Williams of Rogue Motion but I am certain it was God making the call through Dru. He called to tell us that he and Rick Agius of Smoky Oak Taproom, the best BBQ on James Island, had decided they were so blessed in their businesses they wanted to give back to the community that supported them by starting an annual charity golf event. Sarascure.org was going to be the beneficiary. They had to work out some details but that moment was God telling us he has our backs. Several weeks later after a whirlwind of testing and starting a chemo regimen, the incredible group of volunteers from Rogue Motion and Smoky Oak Taproom came together and in 6 weeks put on an event that raised over $60,000 for Sarascure.org. This was 6 months worth of payments to the lab to keep the research going while Denny and I could focus on Jackie and her six months of treatments. She is 2/3 way through the 6 cycles of chemo. We know that God wants us to keep going and find the cure for Clear Cell Sarcoma. Thank you to every one of you that has given your time, your money, your prayers and please continue to do so. We have seen every single donation on this page as well as our website and even if we can’t personally thank you we give thanks for you. Please continue to pray for us and all the other clear cell sarcoma families. Continue to share and spread this page. We have a lot of work to do to raise the money needed as the research testing continues. This post is dedicated to 21 year old Natalie who lost her 3+ year battle but won the war and was received into heaven yesterday. She left this earth giving the ultimate gift she could give to those of us still battling. Please pray for her family and honor her by loving each other. Share and spread this message if you want to help us.

Thank you everyone for your donations and well wishes. In our first week Dr. Keller has already located 2 cell lines of the GI version of Clear Cell Sarcoma. One is in the UK and the other Japan and even better they are sharing them with us. Cell lines from other CCS tumors readily exist here in the US. Having all the types (foot, wrist, knee, etc...)allow the preclinical drug testing to be the best and most thorough for personalized treatments for each patient. your donations are already at work paying for the shipping of these critical cell lines. Thank you again and please keep sharing and pushing this campaign to go viral. The faster we get all the funds the more researchers working and the faster the treatments get to our loved ones. We love you all #strongertogether
