Dear Hockey Community,

As you know, Santa Rosa, CA is being devastated by
numerous fires. Several members of our hockey family have lost their homes. Although the heart of one of the fires came very close to Snoopy's Icy Rink, it was mercifully spared!

The bright light within all of this, is the wonderful way
communities come together to help those who have been affected. This fundraiser is being organized to help these players and families with their immediate needs, as the full assessment of damages will take some time to determine.

Please give what you can and the funds will be distributed evenly between the families who have lost everything. It will help them gain some footing while waiting for their homes to be rebuilt.

With Love and Gratitude,

Heather Topham, hockey mom

"I have been with the Santa Rosa Junior Hockey Club as a Flyer since I was 10 years of age. This year is my first year as a Polar Bear for the Santa Rosa Junior College. I love hockey.
I have spent many hours in my backyard practicing my stick handling and shooting pucks into my net.

On Monday October 9th, 2017, my world was changed forever. My house, along with many others, was burned to the ground by the California fires.
The day before the fire, I had grabbed my brand new hockey skates so I could take them to free skate and break them in. Luckily, the skates were safely in my truck.
Most of my other hockey gear had just been washed, and was left out to dry.

On Tuesday the 10th, we were able to get up to where our home was.
There was nothing left of our home, most of my hockey stuff, and my brand new uniforms after the fire had swept through. Every single house on our circle was burned to the ground.

I cannot thank the Santa Rosa Junior Hockey Club enough for organizing this fundraiser to keep me, and the other affected players doing what we love; ripping the ice and scoring goals.

Thank you everyone for your generosity, it means the world to me, as I’m sure it does to the other players who suffered losses.

Dear Hockey Community,

That was from Blake, a long-time Santa Rosa Flyer who just aged out and is now playing for the Santa Rosa Junior College Polar Bears. There are now 13 confirmed families who have completely lost their homes. As the mom of a Santa Rosa Flyer Player, I feel a kinship to these families. We were fortunate enough to be 8 miles away from the fires in Santa Rosa, and able to help those in need.

I have set up a checking account at Redwood Credit Union in my name, Heather Topham, where the funds from GoFundMe will be deposited. In a few days, each of the 13 families will be presented with a $2500 check from that account.

The remaining funds will go into the Flyer Family Relief Fund to help replace any other gear needs that have not already been taken care of by the amazing wider hockey community. It will also be utilized to help out families who have been evacuated for well over a week with hotel and food. Any other unforeseen needs, such as temporary housing costs, hockey dues and tournament fees, will be able to be provided for the families from this relief fund.

The worst of the fires is over, but it is the long term rebuilding that will continue to plague these families, long after the fires are reduced to cold ash. I, along with other hockey moms and dads, are reaching out to the affected families to see what individual needs they may have to help lessen the burden of their losses.

Thank you again for your support! Hockey families stick together!

Dear Hockey Community,

Thank you for the generous outpouring of support! When this fund began, there were 6 confirmed Flyers families who had lost their homes. As of this morning, (Friday, October 13) there are 11 families whose homes have burned to the ground, with 4 more families still unable to return to their home to assess the damage. Because of this, funds are still being accepted.

Our hearts go out to those who have lost loved ones to this devastating event. It has deeply affected our community and is going to take months and years to rebuild. We have received support from Hockey Clubs from all over! Thank you, thank you, HockeyStrong!

We have had overwhelming offers for gear! Thank you! We want to get these kids, coaches and referees back on the ice! At this time, we are good on gear! Here is the update:

San Jose Sharks Ice VP, Jon Gustafson, in partnership with their suppliers: Bauer and CCM, is offering to outfit our players. On Sunday, October 15, players will be caravanning down to the Sharks Pro Shop to have most of their gear replenished! This journey will be a healing gathering for our young players. We hope to be back on the ice very soon.

Hockey X in Oakland, CA is offering a deep discount on all gear for affected families. Players simply go, pick out what they need, and the balance is paid directly to Hockey X, from funds raised by the GoFundMe!

Between these two generous offers, our club will be fully outfitted and ready to play again! All remaining funds will be disbursed evenly between the families who have lost their homes.

Blessings and Gratitude to you all!

Dear Hockey Community!

Wow, just wow! Your support is truly inspiring. In less than one day you have raised almost 2/3's of our goal. Donations are coming in from the hockey community from all over the US.

Sadly, another family found that their home is gone. There are a number of other families who are unable to return as fires are still burning in their neighborhoods. The winds are set to shift and pick up this afternoon so we are not out of the woods yet. Please keep sharing this page.

We look forward to getting back on the ice with you!
Love to all of you!
