Sammy Rosenblatt Memorial and Scholarship Fund

$43,239 of $45,000 goal

Raised by 617 people in 2 months
Sammy passed away early Saturday morning, March 16, 2019 from an opioid overdose after an almost 5 year battle with substance abuse. He was incredibly talented and will be missed terribly by all his family and friends.

We, his family, are organizing events to honor his memory and celebrate his life.   Donations will be used for his memorial as well as to fund an exhibition of his work, an art scholarship in his name and a donation to an opioid addiction foundation to support others battling this disease.

So many loved him and will miss him.

This campaign was started by the family of Sam Rosenblatt: Lisa Pressman (mother), Jay Rosenblatt (father), and Alex Rosenblatt (brother) on behalf of Sammy's friends, family, and loved ones.  We live in New Jersey and California.

We are still finalizing plans for the funds but our initial plan is:
- Donations to Shatterproof.org and Trans advocacy groups
- Memorial costs
- Establishing Scholarship at Sammy's High School
- Sammy Rosenblatt Archive (preservation, printing, and archiving)
- Sammy Rosenblatt Opiate Advocacy event(s)

Thank you so much to everyone who has and will be supporting Sammy's memorial fund. Your generosity is opening up many possibilities. Some of the ideas we are exploring include local opioid outreach events, various exhibitions of Sammy's artworks and scholarships.

We will be creating a catalog of his artwork which will be available via a link to all who have donated.

We are exploring a NYC pop-up exhibition and event space, art scholarships at both his high school and college, speakers to visit our local high school and our synagogue to present on opioid awareness.

We are so moved at the number of people who have shared with us the impact Sammy had on their lives and how meaningful his presence was to them. He inspired, encouraged, and accepted people for who they were. This is a great loss to us and his community.
