Hi, my name is Jill Reagan, the Mother of Sammy Grace Reagan, who was tragically killed in the largest car pile-up in the State of Ohio, which involved 94 cars. She was 12 years old and a twin to a very close brother. She was the sole casuality in this accident on January 21st, 2013. Since it was Martin Luther King's Day, we were on our way to enjoy a day of skiing with her friend's and brother's at Perfect North when we were involved in this accident. Sammy made it through the accident, but when a truck hit the cable barrier, she was struck in the back of the head with the cable wire from the barrier. There were over 6,000 students and community members at her service as she was known as "everyone's best friend," even at such a young age.
Sammy was a kind young lady that accepted everyone and had the moto to "treat everyone the way you would want to be treated." Another famous quote by Sammy was "when you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours." Her spirit continues to penetrate throughout our community through acts of kindness.
Our family developed a non-profit organization known as The Sammy Reagan Foundation in May of 2013, that identify underfunded children's projects in the surrounding Cincinnati Communities and provide financial assistance and volunteers to progress projects to completion to honor Sammy's memory, continue her work, and fulfill the foundation's vision.
We did not participate in funding this year due to focusing on the healing process. Especially, during this time of year, there are many families that require our support and assistance such as food, utilities, shelter, gifts for children, warm coats and clothing, among many other needs. With the lack of fundraising this year, we will not be able to provide as many families that are in need with the assistance required. Each little thing that we can do to help our local families, aides in supporting our foundation's mission and warms our hearts by giving back in Sammy's honor. We would be grateful for your assistance and dedication of our mission and sharing in the memory of our Angel, Sammy Grace Reagan.
