40 years waiting.
International diplomacy's most outrageous failure.
Refugees with a land to reclaim.
A generation lost waiting for the international support.

A Republic in a refugee camp.
The forgotten tragedy of the Saharawi people.

The last African colony.
The only refugee republic on Earth.
Beyond the wall, a prosperous land:
their own.

This is the story of the Saharawi people
a population banished from its own land and forced to live as refugees for 40 years.

With dignity and persistence they’re fighting to come back to their territories.

How? Asking the United Nations and the whole world to recognize their right to exist, their right to self-determination.

Their cities and families are still there, Beyond the 2700km Moroccan wall, beyond minefields.

The Saharawi People are waiting for
a UN referendum, intended to determine the ownership of what until 1975 was their land; they legitimately want to come back, back home.

A paradoxical history of hope, a counter-immigration denied by power games over natural resources (their lands, Western Sahara, is today widely exploited by Morocco for their rare mineral reisources, with the complicity of a vast majority of the international community).

‘A Place in the World’ it’s a documentary that tells their story, out of geography, history or politics, simply making it a ‘human’ story.

As one of the interviewees says: "The weight of the World, if divided between everyone, becomes a feather, and even though we are in the middle of Sahara desert, we must do our part".

The main purpose of the documentary is to
give a voice to this community, living in hard conditions, enclosed in the desert in tents or sand shacks with unsustainable temperatures.
The documentary is aimed at
to telling a condition that, too often, is shared by
the whole world: the supremacy of man over man.

Documentary directed by Francesco Ritondale.

Resources from this fundraising will be so divided:
·      50% to cover the costs of post-production of the documentary       (at the time it was completely self-funded);
·      50% to the Saharawinsieme Onlus Association, to support projects, and receive and host Saharawi children in Italy during the summer (this guarantees children a little relief from the scorching heat of the desert where summer temperatures often reach 50 ° C).

L'ultima colonia africana.

Come?

·      50% per coprire le spese di post produzione del documentario (al momento è stato completamente autofinanziato);
