Permit Approval Update from Oasis Village ...

After waiting nearly 3 weeks for comments from the Planning Department, we still have work to do on getting approval for Oasis Village.

Although the converted containers were built by a company in Nevada to residential code, we will need a California architect or civil engineer to sign off that they meet CA codes.

Yesterday we met with FEMA and the Planning Department to find out if there were any emergency provisions that would allow us to open our doors to fire survivors. We were told that there is a gap in emergency planning for these types of structures and that nothing outside the traditional permitting system is in place to address it at this time. This is pretty terrifying considering that Sonoma County is in a fault zone and at risk for a devastating earthquake that would displace many more people than the fires.

We are doing our best to jump through these hoops as quickly as possible. There are still hundreds if not thousands of people displaced by the fires.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who have been working so hard to support this project.

We appreciate you!
