Dallas' Cancer Treatment Fund
My name is Brannon Humphries and we are raising money for Dallas Sage's breast cancer treatment. The money will be used to pay doctor bills, child care, and living expenses. Dallas is just starting her journey of cancer treatment so donations can be used immediatley and throughout the duration of her care. Dallas (28), her husband Chad (28), and Madelyn (4mo) are close friends of my wife, Sam, and me. Dallas was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) after the removal of what doctors thought was a cyst on June 16th. Sam and Dallas are as close as sisters so the tough news hit very close to home. Dallas is the sweestest and most selfness person I know. Any donation will be incredibly helpful and appreciated as Chad and Dallas will often be traveling to Houston for treatments and assessment, mounting bills, and caring for a beautiful four month old baby. We ask that you please keep her, and her family, in your thoughts and prayers as this tough road begins for this incredible young family.
Currently, Dallas and Chad are on their way to Houston, and have quite a busy schedule ahead of them. Her appointments will start early tomorrow morning, beginning with a CT of her abdomen, followed by blood work. She will then have a brief follow up visit, and then go for a scheduled mammogram. Next, she will go for her PET/CT scan and an ultrasound of the breasts. Her final appointment of the day will consists of a follow up visit with her previous surgeon, Dr. Ross Merrick. Friday morning, Dallas is scheduled for a consultation with Dr. Chin-Wei Tzeng, concerning potential surgery on her liver, where the cancer originally metastasized. Dallas' last scheduled appointment is set for Monday morning and will be a follow up appointment with her primary doctor at M.D. Anderson, Dr. Chavez- MacGregor.
Needless to say, these next few days will be trying and exhausting for both Dallas and Chad, They have been anxiously awaiting this visit, and we ask that you please continue to pray for the two of them as they persevere in this journey. Please pray for God to replace those feelings of anxiety with feelings of comfort as they await news from this visit. Pray that God continue to wholly heal Dallas, as you pray for clear scans, and positive results. Please pray for clear guidance for Dallas' doctors as they continue to design the perfect treatment plan for her. Pray that Dallas continue to regain strength, and for doctors to be able to move forward with this liver surgery with confidence. Most of all, let us continue to thank God for answered prayers, and for His constant faithfulness.
Thank you all for your tremendous support and outpouring of love. I will be sure to post an update once Dallas returns.
Dallas completed 4 full weeks of radiation therapy which she received twice a day, for an hour each, totaling 40 full doses. With this treatment, they targeted both breast and up to her neck, under both arms, her upper abdomen, and the area affected on her back. The radiation burned her skin pretty badly, which made the healing process a little more challenging and longer. She has almost completely healed which is a TREMENDOUS praise.
While in Houston, Dallas also received chemotherapy treatement, and had an Echocardiogram and PET scan. While the chemotherapy, paired with radiation, took a toll on her body, the echocardiogram was normal and her PET scan was CLEAR. I repeat...CLEAR, meaning no evidence of disease!!
As we received the good news of clear scans and her pathology report from surgery coming back clear, Dallas’ medical oncologist is discussing the idea of surgery or radiation for the spots affected in her liver. They plan to return to Houston in February for scans and to also meet with the team to discuss this next step with her liver.
The Sages would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers, and for their love and support through this journey. They now have two huge steps behind them, with another ahead of them, and they know they could not have gotten through this if it weren’t for the over-pouring of prayers and love that has been shown. They are so happy to be home to spend the holidays with their family and friends. While Dallas will continue to receive chemotherapy every three weeks until the next decision regarding her liver is made, they are happy to have this break from their travels and more extensive treatment.
Currently, Dallas and Chad are driving BACK to Houston in order for Dallas to begin radiation treatment, and they will be staying in Houston for the next 5 weeks. Dallas' first treatment begins on Monday morning, and from that point on, she will be receiving Photon Radiation Beam Therapy, two times a day, Monday through Friday for 4 1/2 weeks. Dallas and Chad will be staying with Dr. Hawk through Thursday, and then will be staying in temporary housing listed through the hospital for the remainder of their stay.
All this said, please pray for safe travels to Houston. Pray that Dallas responds well to this radiation treatment, and continues to heal from her surgeries. Pray for comfort for Dallas ,Chad, and Madelyn as they adjust to a temporary home in Texas for the next 5 weeks. And pray for God to ultimately rid Dallas of this horrible disease.
As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of Dallas, and all of the other millions of people affected by this devastating disease, we would love if you would wear pink on Monday to show your support for these amazing human beings who have fought or continue to fight this battle against breast cancer.
Until then, we ask that you please send up many prayers of thanks after receiving news of a smooth surgery and overall visit. In addition to those prayers, we ask that you please pray for continued healing for Dallas, and pray for good results on this upcoming pathology report. Pray for God to remove her anxiety as she waits, and for God to ultimately rid her of this cancer!
Dallas, you have been in my prayers since I saw this. I too had a very aggressive breast cancer when my daughter was 7. I was given several years. My daughter is now 42 and you can do the same. Never Give Up!!!! God will be with you as he has me all these years.
Please check out resources from young survivor coalition, punk diary project, and living beyond breast cancer. As a young survivor myself, diagnosed stage 3A at 35, these people have been my life line now for 9 years. Hang in there, you can do this!!!!
Hey, Dallas, I don't know if you remember me -- Valerie Almand, Meredith and Alison's mom. We went to 1st Methodist with you and your family. My husband Mike had some heart issues and had to be on IV antibiotics long term. He had a port placed, and it was so much better than having to be stuck every time we had to administer the medications. I hope yours makes your life just a little bit easier and less painful, as his did. Many prayers going up to the heavens for you every day. Best wishes from the Almands.
Your haircut looks great, Dallas! You will find that through all of this, God is good and in control and He will carry you through this! He has been so faithful to me during this last year as I went through breast cancer. I am praying for you and your family.
Great news. We are praying for you and your sweet family constantly!!
Prayers for your continued improvement Dallas.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible." – Matthew 19:26
I keep you in my prayers ever day Dallas and so appreciate the updates. I too had HER2 but in 1981 it was not known. Do NOT give up and know that there are many prayers coming your way. Do enjoy your precious little girl over the holidays and treasure each moment. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, my cancer came back and was given several years. My daughter then was 7 and she is now 42. Miracles happen every day as I am one and you can be too. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Wonderful News!!! Dallas I have prayed for you every day. I wrote you earlier and told you to "never give up" which was my license plate for many years until I moved out of state and could not get it anymore. My daughter was 7 and mine came back two years later. Thru my faith I did not ask how long I had as only God knows that but knew I had to raise my daughter. I found out 10 years later that I only had several years. That was 35 years ago and my daughter is now 42 and I also have a wonderful grandson. I have been cancer free all of these years. You keep the faith Dallas as you have so much to live for. Prayers for you every day.
Cancer treatment is at the very edge of our scientific knowledge. The doctors understand some parts and not others. One of the primary mysteries for an oncologist is: Why do some patients get benefits from chemotherapy and others do not? Therefore, it is OF HUGE SIGNIFICANCE that the tumors are shrinking. This is clear evidence that the chemotherapy is working. And, we should have confidence that if the chemo is shrinking the tumors, then it is also destroying the "seeds" at the cellular level that otherwise would become tumors in the future! HURRAY !!! I write this as a cancer survivor of 20+ years, who had stage 4 tumors in my liver. So very thankful for good doctors, and the prayers of the people around you !!!!
Continue to keep you all in our prayers! you are amazing - stay strong! God has a plan- much love to you all!!
