Dallas' Cancer Treatment Fund

$62,480 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 676 people in 29 months

My name is Brannon Humphries and we are raising money for Dallas Sage's breast cancer treatment. The money will be used to pay doctor bills, child care, and living expenses. Dallas is just starting her journey of cancer treatment so donations can be used immediatley and throughout the duration of her care. Dallas (28), her husband Chad (28), and Madelyn (4mo) are close friends of my wife, Sam, and me. Dallas was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) after the removal of what doctors thought was a cyst on June 16th. Sam and Dallas are as close as sisters so the tough news hit very close to home. Dallas is the sweestest and most selfness person I know. Any donation will be incredibly helpful and appreciated as Chad and Dallas will often be traveling to Houston for treatments and assessment, mounting bills,  and caring for a beautiful four month old baby. We ask that you please keep her, and her family, in your thoughts and prayers as this tough road begins for this  incredible young family.

Hey Prayer Warriors!

It has been a week since we returned home from Houston after completing 4 rounds of targeted radiation treatment that was directed to the small area in my lung. I have been doing well, and have experienced very little side effects from the treatment. Praise, God! We will be returning to Houston shortly for scans to confirm that the radiation therapy did its job and that there are no other new spots to appear. I also start back on chemo next week as long as my blood counts are where they need to be. We are praying specifically for this, that my body is ready for me to restart chemotherapy and that the radiation rid my body of the stubborn area that became resistant to treatment!

I wanted to make this update myself so that I could take the opportunity to thank you all for praying over us, for keeping us in your thoughts, for loving us and supporting us through our journey. We sincerely appreciate you all and wish that we could express our gratitude for each and everyone of you. We have been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity shown by so many. You all have touched our lives in ways words could never convey and we will never be able to truly show how much you all mean to us.

The 16th of June, two years ago, will be a day that we will always remember. The day our lives drastically changed, and the start of an adventure we could never have anticipated. We are extremely thankful for the continuous prayers and encouraging words, the thoughtful meals people have provided, the new relationships gained, and the old friendships renewed, for our caring and highly skilled medical team, and fellow fighters that God has placed along our path. Most importantly we are thankful for our family, friends, work, church and community who have loved us so well during this challenging time.

We know our journey is all a part of His perfect plan. The fight is not over, but we have faith that He will continue to carry us through. A friend recently shared with us a verse from Hebrews (4:16) that reads "Let us then approach God's throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." We find comfort in this as we have experienced the mercy and grace of our Father's promises and believe in His healing and the power of prayer.

We are forever grateful for your outpouring of prayer and your willingness to flight alongside us. YOU and our almighty leader, make us #Sagestrong.

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

With love and gratefulness,

So it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated you guys via Dallas’ Go Fund Me account, but I wanted to inform everyone of Dallas’ latest news and current plan. Many of you are already aware, but unfortunately, after performing scans and biopsies, the doctors discovered cancer in Dallas’ lungs during their previous visit to MD Anderson. The spot they found is about 1 cm in size. With this news, Dallas' doctors immediately began working to prepare a new plan of treatment for Dallas. After many discussions, Dallas and Chad are set to fly out to Houston late Sunday and return late Thursday evening/early Friday morning. In this visit, Dallas is set to receive radiation and is scheduled for treatment 2:00 pm (3:00 GA time), every day, Monday-Thursday. Radiation will last about 30 minutes a session, and Dallas will have CT scans regularly to monitor the progress.

Recently, Dallas had to stop TDMI (chemo). So, her last treatment was administered on June 4th. The doctors want to try and give Dallas' platelets time to recover since they were unable to do so when she was having treatment every few weeks. The constant beat down was not allowing her body the time necessary to recover, so they kept having to delay chemo since she was consistently under the required limit with her counts. For now, Dallas is still on the drug Tamoxifen, so hopefully that will keep things under control during this time.

The plan is to start back on TDM1 after radiation, as we know this chemo has controlled the cancer from returning to the original areas the cancer affected. The doctors are still unsure whether or not the area in Dallas' lung was originally there but was too small to show up on scans and became resistant to the chemo OR if this is a relapse. In the words of Dallas, cancer is a smart disease, and that's why there is no cure for it. It is stubborn, and has a mind of its own, which is why the medical teams, researchers and pharmaceutical companies are working hard to try and better understand the disease so they can finally beat it.

Dallas and Chad will return to Houston soon after radiation for follow-up scans to make sure the radiation took care of the spot on her lung, and to also make sure there are no other areas present.

All this said, we ask that you please pray for safe travels as they make their way back out to Houston. Also, pray that the radiation does its job, that there are minimal side effects from radiation, and that this is the last of the cancer in Dallas' body. Please pray for peace, strength, and for comfort, because this news was extremely difficult for Dallas and Chad to face. Most importantly, pray for ultimate healing over Dallas' body, for it to be rid of this horrible disease forever, as it has been through so much in these last couple of years. And pray for Dallas and Chad to have plenty of fight left in them so that they may persevere in this battle until they've won.

On a more positive note, let us sing praises, as Dallas' skin biopsies tested negative for any signs of cancer. Thank God for his healing and for continuing to guide Dallas' doctors as they decide on the correct path of treatment.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Dallas has they best army standing with her.

Hey, Dallas, I don't know if you remember me -- Valerie Almand, Meredith and Alison's mom. We went to 1st Methodist with you and your family. My husband Mike had some heart issues and had to be on IV antibiotics long term. He had a port placed, and it was so much better than having to be stuck every time we had to administer the medications. I hope yours makes your life just a little bit easier and less painful, as his did. Many prayers going up to the heavens for you every day. Best wishes from the Almands.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Wonderful News!!! Dallas I have prayed for you every day. I wrote you earlier and told you to "never give up" which was my license plate for many years until I moved out of state and could not get it anymore. My daughter was 7 and mine came back two years later. Thru my faith I did not ask how long I had as only God knows that but knew I had to raise my daughter. I found out 10 years later that I only had several years. That was 35 years ago and my daughter is now 42 and I also have a wonderful grandson. I have been cancer free all of these years. You keep the faith Dallas as you have so much to live for. Prayers for you every day.

Cancer treatment is at the very edge of our scientific knowledge. The doctors understand some parts and not others. One of the primary mysteries for an oncologist is: Why do some patients get benefits from chemotherapy and others do not? Therefore, it is OF HUGE SIGNIFICANCE that the tumors are shrinking. This is clear evidence that the chemotherapy is working. And, we should have confidence that if the chemo is shrinking the tumors, then it is also destroying the "seeds" at the cellular level that otherwise would become tumors in the future! HURRAY !!! I write this as a cancer survivor of 20+ years, who had stage 4 tumors in my liver. So very thankful for good doctors, and the prayers of the people around you !!!!
