The Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Ragusa, Italy have operated a preschool and daycare in North Haven, Connecticut for over 35 years. Their unique approach to early childhood education, their rigorous academic curriculum, and their unequalled solicitude for the children and families entrusted to them have distinguished their center as the finest in the area.
Recently, following a merger of the three Catholic North Haven churches, the decision was made to close the Sisters' school. However, after a months-long campaign by alumni, parents, and local supporters, the Sisters have been given the wonderful opportunity to open anew under new leadership and with the name "Sacred Heart of Jesus Daycare-Preschool- Kindergarten." The expanded program and facility will admit children from ages 2 to 6.
In order for the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to prepare their new school, which they will now run on their own and financially independent of the local parish, they are in urgent need of donations. Any funding you contribute will go directly to the Sisters to assist with their support and to pay for associated start-up costs such as cleaning, rehabilitation of the existing facility, toys, school supplies, and sundry costs.
It is exceedingly rare nowadays to have a school operated and staffed entirely by nuns, women from around the world who have devoted their lives to Christ and to their mission to educate youth and embrace in their love the families of their students. Join us in our efforts to build upon the previous 35 years of success as we look forward to an broadened school program with new opportunities and with the blessing of the Archdiocese of Hartford and St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish of North Haven.
