July 2007 I moved in with mom and dad to be their full time caretaker 24 7 365 because they couldn’t afford a nurse. There income was 200 above limit which disqualified them from any financial assistance from govt state or VA
I was diagnosed 2/2014 with cancer had a rapidly growing tumor on top of my head, and cancerous tumors next to and under my right eye and cancer in eyelids and neck. I was told I might not live to see the end of summer due to their cancerous infection ...was told i had rare disease..less than point 2 percent get this form cancer that makes lots tumors .. The doctors told me I must immediately place my father in a nursing home for the 24x7 care he required because he can not be left alone and I would be spending most of the next four months going to see doctors, specialists with eyes face skin, have many tests, and prep for surgeries that summer in July at famous Boston hospital that people come to from all over world for the rare cancerous tumor disease like i have . I also took appropriate steps to improve my diet and health, and 4 months later my doctors were stunned that the tumors had shrunk to the point the cancer went away in my eye so they cancelled ALL surgeries to have tumors removed. My experience with Obamacare all this time was harder to deal with all hurdles then the cancer. My fathers health insurance would not pay for his time in nurse home. Which resulted in several large medical bills
Between August 2010 and April 2011 my mother went to the ER repeatedly for diabetes, kidney, heart, back and lung problems. She had congestive heart failure several times, and spent most of 9 months in the ER, a hospital bed or the ICU. Insurance would only pay for so many days in the hospital, so she was often sent home, only to return to the ER within a couple of weeks. Eventually mom was somewhat stabilized, she was placed in a nursing home for about a month. Insurance didn’t cover the nursing home or medicines and the bills racked up even more . In April 2011 mom died of kidney failure from taking 26 prescriptions a day along with heart attack. My father had to take out a $15,000 2nd mortgage on the house, to pay for the nursing home and her funeral
My father waz an Army veteran from 1945 till 1947. He spent over a decade taking care of mom himself, and as of November 2010 he too has become very ill, and can no longer take care of himself.
Plus i am burnt out can no longer take care of him 24 7 365. Since so many ask me same questions over and over I'll just say I've talked to many state and govt people agencies ..I've done everything possible I can do There is No Help or $ assistance etc ..for me or my father from state of MA or govt or VA
We live in a very old home, and the home needs extensive repairs and improvements. I used the $1600 I received from this gofundme first 15 months it was posted ..back in 2014 ..I was able to get back porch repaired and replace back stairs.
My father and mother spent more than four decades in their house and because of all I just said my father had to get reverse mortgage to pay all medical bills and nurse home back in 2014 so he didn’t lose house. Im doing my best to take care of dad and I ever since mom went to Heaven 2011
I usually put others first without thinking neglecting of my own health and wellbeing. I have been battling tumors and cancers, while caring for my sick father doing everything for him 24x7 with very little to none help from anyone last 7 years
After adding up all the expenses We need around $27,000 between home repairs, moving expenses, storage, and to take care of all basics.
My fathers health and my health last 3 months have got to point i had to put him nursing home ...I can not take care of him no more 24 7 and we have to sell house to pay for nursing home..but will not get much for house if we don't fix repair all that's needed..
The NEED is great and ALL that comes in will help ..The repairs are beyond bad should have been done years ago. The roof ceiling and cellar are mess..i recently found out have burnout and many symptoms of adrenal fatigue and when I took care of dad 24 7 I was lucky if I got 2 hours sleep a day
If there is any amount you could help me and dad with we will be very grateful. Dad served in WW2...last 8 years up until now I just found out there is more govt and state $ for illegal immigrants and non citizens refugees and muslim terrorists than veterans senior citizens and homeless...the MA housing told me there was no $ to help me move pay rent or utilities !! But they have millions for Syrian refugees Muslim terrorists and illegals from Mexico
